View Full Version : KX250 Clamp-On Kickstand Experiences, Anyone?
05-14-2004, 04:13 PM
They don't make one of those cool, high-zoot Pro-Moto Billett (or Trail-Tech) kickstands for my '99 KX250, so I thought I'd see how y'all liked the clamp-on variety.
Just woods riding w/ the kids. I'm very old, so don't tease me... ;-)

No teasing here. Im dying for one for my 125 so any input would be nice. There is nothign wrong with wanting an easy way to just hop off your bike instead or searching for something to lean it against especially if you stop several times.

I hear ya on that one Sledboy. One thing I miss when I ride my KX250 is the kick stand on my KDX200. I'd also like to hear if anyone has found a good stand for KX or CR,RM,YZ.
You're not old till your dead.

I needed one for my bike when riding around with my 5 year old on his xr-50 so I purchased the MOOSE brand clamp-on stand from dennis kirk .com ; $89.95. Very strong and built with high quality.

Try getting one from a KDX. I know alot of guys on JustKDX take theirs off.

The clamp on kickstands work well, I also had one on my KX. It was a shame that I had to sell it with my bike (Dang tapered swingarms!!!)

Thanks for the input.
The only choices I can find for the '99 KX250 are the Moose and MSR Clamp-ons and the MSR Bolt-on that requires drilling for 3 nut inserts in the swingarm.
Any more thoughts?
Did your Clamp-on hit the chain at all? Which brand was it?
04-YZ-250: Any chain interference w/ the Moose?

KXKX250, the chain never hit the stand that I know of. I was very pleased with the stand, it was very sturdy and never fell down while riding (or jumping.) I was well worth the money.
The MSR sounds like too much work for a kickstand.

Looks like you answered while was editing to ask which brand yours was... :-)

FXKX250- No interference at all;the moose brand is great!

I bought one from rockymountainmc for my KX500 and it's great. Tight spring that doesn't allow movement when the stand is up. No interference with chain either.

If you dont want a swingarm stand

Well, gents, thanks for all the info. I would have tried the Pro Moto Billet or the Trail Tech, but they don't make them for the '99.
The Moose was on backorder, so I called Utah Sport Cycle.
Same day shipping from them, and the price was enough less than the Moose that it came out the same w/ 2 day shipping.
Put the thing on yesterday and it fit like a glove. Clears the chain and lays up against the swingarm when folded as close as a factory kickstand would. VERY heavy-duty and well made part, stays out of the way, and I'm pretty sure I'd have to hit hard enough to break me and the bike before I'd have to worry about it flopping down.
So, I'm happy w/ the product and the service from Utah Sport Cycle.
The above only applies to my experience, which is with a '99 KX250.
BTW, they make the Moose kickstand as well, so you can't go wrong w/ it, either. :worship:
