Reading Spark Plugs and Different Fuels

I happened upon Eric's spark plug web page:
http://ericgorr.com/techarticles/sparkplugs.html

In it the correct plug is shown with the statement that it's clean EVEN THOUGH pump fuel was used. I thought that the highest priority of pump fuel was clean burning. Will race fuels really burn cleaner (less deposits) ?

In the case of good quality unleaded race fuels that would be the case. Leaded race fuels will leave some TEL specific deposits.
