Coming soon to your town. Walmart is aggressively expanding into Europe.

I like your description ... an all in all store.

They move into a town in America and drive everyone else out of business by undercutting their prices. For a while, they would then raise prices, but the govt. stepped in and they have stopped that practice. They are large enough now that many firms are caught in the grip of being out of business if they loose the Walmart business, so they are often running scared and have to cave when Wallyworld tells them to cut the price or loose the business.

Their current destiny is to be the largest merchant operation in the world. They are now (I think) in terms of $$$, but I mean the amount of the earth they have a hand in.

Don't know if they have mc tires. I rarely shop for anything there except clothes.

Their new thing is groceries. They are quickly catching up, in volume, with the big grocery chains in America and will soon surpass them.

They are big in waving the American flag here ... ie, made in America. Don't know how that will translate in other countries.

No, K-Mart is a currently failing competitor to Wal-Mart. They are in the process of closing alot of their stores.

K-Mart (in bankrupcy) was the first "all in all" chain of stores like Wal Mart.

Wal Mart simply put a store in every town (an more) where K-Mart already was, under-cut their prices and put them out of business.

WooHoo Kresge, I haven't seen one of those in probably close to 30 years. I used to go there with my grandparents, man they had a killer chicken salad sandwich too! :thumb:

Are there still any Alco's around?
