I am in the process of restoring an 83' Yamaha xt550. Currently the engine is in the frame, but the top end is off the motor. The bottom end turns freely, so I am wondering if all I need to do is get the top end together and fire it up. Would you suggest splitting the cases and if so, what should I be looking for? If so,then this will be my first bottom end job. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
