Poke around on the internet for clearences. Sidi (high end stuff) came out with their new "crossfire" boot a year or two ago, and I found a site that had real deals on the older "force" boot. I got $425 boots for $240 shipping included. A high end long lasting boot at a deal is a much better value than an entry level boot at retail price IMO. My last Sidi's endured 6 years of heavy abuse. In this economy there's bound to be some companies wanting/needing to move their stock.

if you can find tech 3's at any local dealers they normally go for $130ish. E Bay is also an option, i got new tech 8's for $150 off there, got luck with a buy it now auction

When you see me riding with my eyes closed, its because I have lost control of my bike and I'm about to crash.

I bought some Alpinestar Tech 3's after I bottomed out a KTM 520 and ripped my FLY's in half. I cheaped out on the Fly's for $100 dollars and it fired back at me. It all depends on how aggressive you ride. If you are a sit down rider, then the cheap boots will serve you well, if your a hardcore racer you definitley want high-end boots. I personally opted for the midpoint which for me was the Tech 3's. They run for about $160 and they are great boots. I think they are an extreemly good deal for what you get. They are strong enough to handle the occasional racer's needs too.
