Oil question

I've ordered a service manual for my 2004 Honda CRF230F, but in the meantime I would like to change my oil. I have a few questions, firt off how important is the specific torque that you torque the drain bolt? Can I just use a regular ratchet and make sure it's tight? And second of all does anyone know approximately how much oil to put in the machine? And I purchased Amsoil 10W-40 Synthetic motorcycle oil, is this a good oil? And I'm not sure what oil was in the machine previously, once I drain the old stuff is it okay to put this new oil in?

Thanks
-Alex

Just make sure the drain bolt is tight and you'll be fine. Just make sure you don't strip it out! I wouldn't worry about your oil situation. Your bike will work just fine.

I have the same bike. The 230f uses 1.1 leters of 10w-40 oil. No senthetics and no special things in the oil.
