XR 200R or TTR 125L

I was wondering if someone could tell me if these bike are close in seat height, I looked at the new TTR125L and find that to be the perfect bike for my daughter, can anyone tell me if this would be a ok subsitute? She is 5'4". I found an XR for a most affordable price and I have to drive like 2 hours to look at the bike. Thank you all.

I have a 2001 XR200 and its great(not as great as my new KDX tho ) and my friend has a ttr125 ( not the "L") but its ok. its much lighter but much less powerful and not as fun. but i think it would be better for a girl becuase it looks cuter and cooler then the xr, plus its alot lighter. but its ALOT less powerful then the XR.

been there done that....the XR is much heavier and taller than the TTR125L.
My 5'5" 125lb. wife preferred the TTR125L (for trails, not MX) after test riding them both, and that is what we got....she has 6 hours on it now, and it has worked out great....plenty of power and great low speed torque..she was popping wheelies last weekend...easy to ride on trails and woods and she can pick it up if it falls over...and easy to kick start......she also has a XT225 dual sport, which is about same wieght height as the XR200.
my $.02

Asrith-

I posted a reply to you regarding the XR200 when you were asking about the XR100 not too long ago...here's a recap:

My wife just started riding 2 months ago and I bought her a XR200. She is petite, 5'4" & 105 lbs, and she loves it. She learned on a TTR125L and was able to flat-foot it which made her very comfortable, but we were afraid she would out grow it as a rider too quickly, so we went with the XR.

The TTR she learned on was a friend of ours who is a little taller than my wife and now after riding the TTR for about 4 months wants to get a XR200. My wife rode with the TTR this past weekend and the XR (IMHO) seemed to be the better bike, taking into consideration that both riders have about the same skill level.

Another nice thing about the XR is the resale value is very good and they are easy to sell.

I say get the XR. I hope this helps.

For a woman that's not real large, the ttr-l is the way to go. My son has one I'm fixing to sell (he's grown a lot). Before he out grew it, he could get the bike almost anywhere. I really skilled rider on a more powerful bike could probably get a few more places ......otherwise, it's a great ride for folks under 5'5". Let me know if you want to buy one and want some pictures.

The 200 is about 40 pounds heavier, not as well balanced and tougher to turn than the TTR. They're good bikes, though. Stay away from the ttr225. They are slow and heavy..Good luck

My little sister rides a TTR125L and she loves it, she is about 5'5, she is not terribly skilled but she does alright. They are great bikes really light weight etc. I would take one over an XR 200 anyday. Oh wait, I did take one over an XR 200. I am 5'11 130lbs and love to throw the little ttr around. It is not like the KDX or WR but they are good bikes. Very reliable, and if necesary you can get more power out of them relatively easy.

Good Luck

Happy Trails

TTR125L's can do some pretty amazing stuff in the right hands. I originally learned on TTR125L, and now ride a KDX220. However, I take the TTR125L into the gravel bed sometimes just for kicks, and do some of the most insane things on it. It'll climb hills like nobodys business, it jumps great, and its so stable at slow speeds that you can try really freaky stuff you would be afraid to do on a big bike. I rode it up onto a picnic table the other day, wouldn't dare try that on the KDX, I'd loop out instantly. Yeah, it's a great bike, and great to learn on too!

No doubt!

I can't speak for the comparison between the TTR and XR, but I put my 11 year old stepson on the TTR125L for his first bike. He rides it pretty well now, but on some of the really steep climbs, he would get a bit nervous and I would end up hiking back down to ride it up for him. I have to attack these same climbs pretty aggressively on my WR. It always amazes me how easily that TTR125L walks up hills with a little clutch control. As he is improving, he can handle most of the hills himself now. But, I still find myself in awe as I watch him casually roll up to the bottom of the hill and proceed to putt right on up it.
