Hasenberg 501fc vs. Yamaha 426f

I'm currently riding a 94 exc250, well it's kind of a basket case rite now. I'm thinking of updating. The dealer has a new 1998 Husenberg 501fc for $5k and a 2001 426f 4-sale, which bike is the best or should I stay with the KTM 2stroke?

IMHO the 1998 Husaberg is not nearly as refined as the new ones. The 426 is a good bike but is a little top heavy and doesn't offer the smooth power delivery of the new euro thumpers. Personally if you have a fairly new KTM 2 stroke I doubt that you would be any faster on either of the other two. If you are looking at the KTM 2 strokes the 200 and 300 have great appeal in these forums.

I am thinking $5k is way too much for a 98 model bike. I have seen new Bergs for just above 6k. Now if he was asking closer to 3k, you might be on to something.
Also, in case you were not aware, the fc designation is the mx bike. If you ride mostly trails the fe is the way to go, or at least fx which is cross country... a compromise bike i guess.
I cant comment on the 426, they are wildly popular, and I would assume that is for a good reason.
Good luck... and yeah, the kickstarter is on the left!

I agree with the above statements, $5000 seems like an awful lot for a bike that is 5 y/o. And ditto on the above statements as to the new model refinements, they have come a long way since '98, spend a little more and get a totally revamped '03 monster with the e-start.

Save your pennies and buy an estart WR450. Probably be 6300 brand new. And has trickness dripping off it everywhere.
