possible clutch problem

It doesn't seem too serious at this point but here are some symtoms I am experiencing.
1. I can't push my bike when it's in gear. (with the clutch pulled in)
3. Doesn't start as easily when it's in gear as it use to.
4. Occasionally won't go into third or fourth gear. I sometimes have to downshift first then go back up.

The only thing I've done differently is that I've started putting a whole quart of oil in the tranny. I use havoline 10w40. I've used this oil for two years and no trouble so far. Do I need to switch, or is it something else? I've tried adjusting the cable but no luck.

sounds like warped clutch plates, or you need to put another spacer on the actuator that fits in the throw-out bearing. take a look at the drawing on www.buykawasaki.com .

Mike.

I accidently put to much oil in my trans and had the trans would not shift at all.I promptly drained the oil and put in fresh oil and the proper amount. Shifting went back to normal.

That's worth a try. I'm gonna change my oil in the morning and try using the recommended amount.

I have a 2004 200 and I am having the same problem. Look under thread- Clutch Problem
I got the same advice and am going to switch to Bel Ray and see what happens. Let me know if you find a cure.
These bikes are to new for this type of problem- in my opinion.

I had been having the same problems with my 88 lately. It got so bad I couldnt catch neutral with the bike stopped and engine running. I bought a quart of Bel Ray Gear Saver and ALL problems went away instantly. I should have done it a long time ago.

I used the 75W. Good stuff! I have tried all kinds of automotive oils, every ATF from type F to Dextron. The ATF fluids did cure the mentioned problems more than auto oils but all symptoms went away with the GearSaver. I'm sold.
