okay heres the deal. how do you do a comp. check on a 4stroke. the manual says to change it (if i can remember) about 30 hours, i mean piston and rings. we have had two strokes for years and these are our first 4 strokes. the manual says this thing has a 12.9 to 1 comp ratio. whats the multiplier barometric pressure or what at 29.90 barometric pressure the comp. should be about 385 psi. thats just crazy. can't be right. also what have you guys that have these bike did to them to make them rock. we also have a crf450 and the boy just rocks on it but sucks hind tit on the 250 what do you guys suggest. we really lke honda's stuff but the 250 really leaves a lot to be desired. any help would appreciated thanx in advance.

Honda lists a cranking compression spec in the service manual that takes into account the auto-decompressor. But really if you are racing this thing you should be following the Honda service intervals, or they get really slow really quickly. It only has a single compression ring, that once worn leaks like a sieve. You'll also need to pay close attention to the valves and watch for intake seat recession and the seat width growing beyond the service limit.
If you take care of that stuff consistently the bike is competitive with every other 250F on the market.
