i was wondering what type of bike would be good for me and my riding style. i am a 6'1", 150 lbs. highschooler. I like dirt jumping and trail mainly, cause me and my friends do some crazy crosscountry riding and jump ditches and some ramps.
most of the jumps are about 10 to 20 feet wide, some more, some less...any one think they could help out?

Since jumping is clearly very important to you, and I assume you are on a high-schooler's budget, a 125 motocrosser would fit your needs pretty well. The suspension on a 125 motocrosser is set up for exactly what you want to do. Also, you are light enough that a 125 would have enough power to clear most jumps with technical approaches. If you consider yourself a novice or better rider, a 250 2-stroke would be a good bike too. Freestyle jumping is still dominated by 2-strokes. Travis Pastrana won many freestyle contests on a 125, so don't feel like you have to jump on the 4-stroke bandwagon.

yeah i dont plan on jumping on that bandwagon at all...2-strokes clearly have the advantages i am looking for. would a yz125 be a wise choice for me...i am looking for a fairly good top speed, good handling, and excelleration. not to mention some of the jumps i like to hit.

125 MX or maybe 250MX

Yeah, a YZ 125 would be a great bike. Buy the nicest one you can afford so you don't have to spend all your cash keeping it running. Things like top speed and acceleration can be adjusted by changing the back sprocket, but its always a trade-off. You can gear it for a high top speed, or really quick acceleration, but you can't have both. The stock gearing should work well for most of the riding you will do.

thanks for all of your help...if anyone else has some wise words of much much wisdom, please share!
