How old is he again, 12? He's such a dipstick.

THAT was in fact stupid.

Posted by: truespode---------------------

We did stuff like that at school once when I was 16.

Except we made our own shotgun shells with paperwads.

On the track and off, same good judgement.

Dumb and Dumber

Posted by: truespode---------------------

It's dumb no doubt but kids do stupid things. I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished but there is more to the story.

I read on MT where a guy called Travis to talk to him about it and according to that conversation they used shotguns with bean bags that they got from the police and the police were aware of the stunt before it happened but there was a driver who came up who was not aware and he called 911 which was not notified of the stunt ahead of time.

The stunt was being performed for Travis' upcoming MTV show which is going to be similar to Jackass.

The stuff we did in High School was to scare the teachers. In this day and time it wouldn't be near as funny as it was then. Also we were in a small po-dunk town where stupid stuff like that was the norm. Nobody even got suspended... just told not to bring guns to school again.

Anybody read the article in last months Racerx how TP and friends rented Ferraris and practiced Ralley racing in the CA mountains in the middle of the night?
Like the article says he just paralyzed the guy in the corvette and didn't learn a thing

He learned to rent a better handling car! Ok maybe that was in bad taste. For the record Matt Bigos is not paralyzed but he certainly had his life changed that day.

I've wondered how Travis' and Matt's relationship has been since then.

Everyone seems to love Travis but in Matt's online reports he never mentions Travis.

I've also noticed how Matt tends to avoid answering the queries about Travis. In one post it did catch my attention that they obviously had some contact because he made mention that he gave the gear that Travis wore in the main at Daytona to a little girl who was a huge fan.

I think Travis made a "smart decision" thurs nite at the xgames and didnt try to do his double back flip (which they show him doing in his foam pit). I think Travis has learned to play it safe now, since he is supposedly commited to racing supermoto and sx05 this year. I think that shows some maturity now.....

Careful, don't give him credit too soon. That was just best trick thursday night. He still has the regular freestyle competition coming up on Sunday and they are hyping it up that he will be doing( trying I guess is a better word) a double backflip then. We'll see what happens.

Update. Looks like freesyle is saturday night. around 10:00 est.

Posted by: jboomer---------------------

Thanks for the heads-up, I almost missed it!

Posted by: zcookie49---------------------

yeah, he did get pretty banged up throwing out that Flat 360.....black eye and slight concussion.
I would have to say that Travis's 360 was the closest to a real 360 thrown by anyone by far. He had the bike pancaked, at least it looked that way on tv.

Posted by: HiG4s---------------------

I really expected him to try the double back flip in the freestyle final and leave on a stretcher!! Glad to see he didn't but that doesn't mean I expect him to keep making the intelligent decision..

on the Supermoto note,, he didn't look all that fast, but then then being beat up from the 360 flat crash might have been part of the problem... He was running 6th or 7th when he slid out, stalled the bike and couldn't get it to restart.
