I saw this at an arenacross and it seemed to be fun to watch or participate. It wouldnt take a ton of prep or flaggers for that matter.

I would rather race mountain bikes around the big track. We could go in reverse and go down the big step-up.

i did a mountain bike race on a motocross track once. it was one of the hardest things i've ever done. about twenty of us started, three finished. i was third.
