Tie-Down Anchor

Does anyone have any experience with the E track tie down system? I'm looking to add some more tie down spots. I'll be using this system for my streetbike, dirtbike and fourwheeler. It will be used on an open trailer. Is the E track system secure enough?

I have 3 10ft strips in my 6x12 enclosed trailer. I think they are great. Real easy to move the clips depending on which bikes I haul.

I have to give it 5 stars. Great stuff. I have a 10 ft strip in my enclosed trailer.

Could you explain to me what keeps the tie down anchors from coming loose or have you ever had any come loose? I'm just wondering how secure they are. Also, where would be the best place to purchase them?

Lynn:

The anchors clip into the track and a spring loaded clip keeps them from coming loose. Actually loose isn't the correct word, because although they are always loose, they are secure. They have a D ring to attach tie-downs to. I'm sure they have a rated strength, but I don't know what it is and have never had one come loose.

I picked mine up at a trailer supplier. Most of them carry track and clips. The track is affordable ($20.00 per 10 foot section a couple of months back) but they gig you pretty good for the clips. If I remember correctly, they were $8 +/- each.

The one downside I don't know much about is how well they stand up to weather as mine are installed on the inside of my trailer. They may be available galvanized, but I don't know where.

I have "L" track in my truck and love it. It's held up in the bed, exposed to the elements since 2000 with no problem. I wouldn't leave the anchors exposed though as they would corrode since they are unfinished. "VT" track looks to be pretty much the same thing so I imagine a search on Google would give ya' lots of info.

I don't know if it's the same stuff, but McMaster-Carr sells Cargo-Securing Track and accessories. Horizontal and vertical with accessories. They have the spring-loaded fitting with D ring rated at 2000 lbs.
