Do you cut your bars?

I cant decide if I want to cut down the width of my bars. Do you cut yours? How much do you take off over all?

Posted by: SpeedyManiac---------------------

I don't cut mine, instead I use mini bars, so with my barkbusters, my bars are still only 29" wide.

Posted by: WideOpen---------------------

you pretty much have to in order to race enduros in florida

i believe mine are 28 or 29"

Posted by: evenslower---------------------

I answered yes but my new favorite bend doesn't require it. Moose Flex bars Burleson bend. Relatively tall, something like 29/30" wide, and plenty of room for controls.

Posted by: Mrobbins---------------------

Nope. Running Moose mini-bend and they come 28". Nice for new england woods.

I cut a half inch off each side for barkbusters, it's a scramble thing.

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

1" off each end for a total of 28". The hand gaurds add a 1/2" back on per side.

I voted no - but I'd like to try it sometime. Even the Subway Honda Pro dudes cut down their Pro Tapers (I wanna say they take between 1/4-3/4 an inch off of each side and each rider is different).

Posted by: XRpredator---------------------

I take one inch off the left and two off the right. Just for giggles

Posted by: Green Horn---------------------

I could cut a foot off either side and I'll still wack a tree. Thus my final answer is NO.

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

1/2 to 3/4 off of each side at the most. if you have small hands you can trim your grips and move them outward to regain some of the lost leverage.

Posted by: no2tracks---------------------

Nope, don't need to out west(Colorado, Utah)

Posted by: bcVulcan---------------------

Yep. 29" total.

Posted by: firecracker22---------------------

No, I buy the mini-hi or equivalent bend. Currently running Pro Tapers, Hawkins High bend I think. 29" or so wide, and lots of room for controls, etc. Up in the NORTHwest, you gotta; we have trees up here that reach out and grab.

Posted by: michigan---------------------

Yep. 30"

28 1/2" on both my bikes and I'd make 'em narrower if it wasn't to big of a hassle. I ride other people's bikes and I feel like I'm about to be crucified.

Posted by: twoclantons---------------------

I take a 1/2 inch off of my ProTapers. I race MX. After doing the hair scramble and poker run thing at DW this year i know that if i were consistently riding in the woods i would take the bars off of my XR80 and use those.

Posted by: BradFrost---------------------

Yeah I also like to custom bend mine to a 90 degree upright angle... so when I stack there's no visible damage

nope i have renthal twin walls rc bend i aint cuttign 150 daller bars
