How do you get damper rod & piston from tube on 03 RM 250 KYB forks?

I have heated them mildly ( hot to the touch but not smoking oil hot) and tried to twist the tube using a screwdriver while holding the top with the cylinder holder tool clamped in a vise. Need more heat? I wonder if the little silver ring that is crimped around the damper shaft about halfway along it's length can be uncrimped to let the shaft and piston slip out the bottom? Help is appreciated, Michael.

Soem you do have to heat alot-but some use the tap with a hammer method-the heating is a little dangerous and can pull the threads out with the tube.

Thanks for the reply. I finally got them out, it took LOTS of heat and I had to knock the hell out of them with a punch to get them to break free. After a few degrees of rotation they came out easily by hand. Tough thread locker.
