A friend of mine recently purchased a WR250 and needs to cut the throttle stop down to YZ specs. Anyone know how much to cut off or how much to leave on?

I took off 60 percent of the non-threaded portion of the pin on mine. This was suggested in the writeup at motorcycledaily.com. It seems to be perfect but I am curious as to what the consequences would be if you trimmed off too much.
Anyway, a hacksaw will take care of it in less than a minute after you secure it in a vise. Round it off with a file to contour the end to match the tip of the piece you sawed off.
Thump on!

hey,
a couple of weeks ago i did a "HOW-TO" w/ pictures on the throttle stop mod, go to http://www.thumpertalk.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/000207.html
and scroll about 1/2 of the way down (my tutorial was posted 3/9/2001). there's some other good info there as well, with a couple of theories on what *might* happen if you cut too much off.
happy cutting.
