Lance proofing the Tour?

Just heard that the Tour officials have made changes; fewer mountains and shorter trials for next year.. seems they are worried that Armstrong will win it again unless they make the course easier.
That sounds so.. uh. French.

Next they'll announce that Lance's bike is only allowed to have a single wheel on it. I think he'd still win it on a unicycle, if he so desired.

I read that too, but part of it is just media hype trying to stir up controversy. I looked at the stages, and there are still 9 climbing days with 6 really hard ones. They may not be as brutal as last year, but there's still 3 solid climbing days in the Pyrenees and 3 in the Alps. The elimination of the prolouge means there's only two Individual time trials and they will be shorter than in years past. The tour will still require lots of hard work and strategy by the whole team. Floyd Landis is over at Phonak with Tyler and apparently Discovery (Postal) is about to sign one more notable rider.
Should be interesting for sure. The other stuff that is going on surrounds the UCI and the pro cycling tour. They are trying to get the three grand tours on their schedule, and one of the proposed rule changes is dropping every team down to 8 riders in order to get more Pro teams in the grand tours. Seems to me that the TDF chews up riders and with only 8 that leaves less cushion from injury, or broken bikes.
