Have your bike hauled to Reno and fly out! Midwest people check this out!

Want to go to the 2005 Reno Ride (Feb 17-21) but don't want to drive out? Can you get your bike to either Kansas City, Des Moines, or St. Louis sometime in early Feb.?

We're looking to do a bike haul and have room for up to 10 big bikes. The current committed list looks like this:

BigLou
WaltCMoto
Rooster
Squeaky
Nikki
Reddog
Mr Luckey
GoSpeedRacer?

So that leaves 2-3 empty spots. Cost per bike will be approximately $100-$160 (the more bikes we get, the less it will cost).

Who's interested?? Reno is a blast - don't miss out!

GoSpeedRacer?

What gives?

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Since she doesn't read the boards much ( ) GSR has her KTM for sale and will be riding a bike of Kiwi's at Reno if the KTM sells. Or she might be bringing a horse to Reno?

Posted by: gospeedracer---------------------

I WISH I could bring a horse out there! That is some good riding no matter what you're on!

Tony, the question mark is because I may or may not be bringing my bike. I'll still be there.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

Just as long as you are there is all that matters.

Posted by: Rooster---------------------

If you have never ridden high desert, this is a do not miss ride. I was skeptical last year, and now can't hardly wait to get back out there.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Yep, me and Red are both MX'ers - but Reno was some of the awesomest riding we've ever encountered! Can't wait for February!!

You can ride the '98 Honda XR200 if need be.

Posted by: gospeedracer---------------------

Thanks for the offer Strick but I'm commandeering Kiwi's GG300.

I'm Sorry!

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

Get your bikes to the Chicago area (northwest suburbs) would also be a drop off point. Im chomping at the bit as we type. This will be my first trip to Reno, and I cant wait.

Posted by: kxjet---------------------

Hey all. I am kinda new to Nevada and am constantly looking for places to ride. I currently have a '04 KDX 200 and would really like to get more info on the Reno ride. Thanks

Posted by: gospeedracer---------------------

kxjet, this whole forum is for the Reno Ride. There is another thread in here called "Reno Ride Information". Go there and I'm sure all your questions will be answered.

Posted by: Farmer John---------------------

Add my bike to the list!
I just know you will not mind swinging by my house to pick it up.

Posted by: kxjet---------------------

I should've looked a little more. I found all of the info just after I posted on the thread. I'm about 8 hours away from Reno, and in the military. Is the Reno Ride worth taking leave for?

Posted by: KiwiBird---------------------

Yes!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: gospeedracer---------------------

LOL, well I don't know. Let's take a little quiz, shall we.

A. Do you enjoy meeting and hanging out with like minded dirtbike peeps?

B. Would you like to have about 50 new dirtbike buddies?

C. Does the thought of endless miles of desert riding with varied terain, hills, whoops, sand, and washes make you're tummy tickle?

D. Would watching a bunch of crazy canadians play flaming soccer and potato hockey while relaxing around a bon fire amuse you?

E. Does the idea of post ride margaritas blended up dirtbike style sound refreshing?

If you've answered YES to any of these questions, then yes, it's worth it.

If you've answered NO to any of these questions, then you're just silly.

Hey gsr,

kxjet,
Might want to send Kav a PM & ask him if he thinks Reno, DW, or anyother DRN event is worth taking leave.

Posted by: gospeedracer---------------------

F. Do you enjoy the company of smartasses?

FJ, I'm making a mental note to load up on a bag of smarties followed by Mt. Dew and Mochachino latte chasers and then hang out with you ALLL weekend

Posted by: Kav---------------------

KXjet: Trust me it's more then worth taking leave to go.

I've taken leave to go to two Dirtweeks (and plan to again), took four days to go to Reno last year, and will take time off again to go this year (ditto for next year also). I'm going to guess that you are stationed at Nellis and if you get a 96 hour pass for that weekend you can go with out taking leave if you want for that holiday.

Posted by: gnarlykaw---------------------

So, do we have this figured out yet?? I need to give myself a x-mas present!

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Walt, Nikdog and Lou! Seems like you 3 are the major players in what can or can't be arranged this year. Looks like the following are for sure:

BigLou
WaltCMoto
Nikki
Reddog
Mr Luckey
Rick + 1
Darby

Looks like we have 2 bike spaces available.

MikeB? Paddy?

Posted by: Rooster---------------------

issed:

I know I said that Squeaks and I would "find a way" to make this year happen, but the hole just keeps getting deeper. At this time, I would say we are definitely not going to make it. It's just not a wise thing to do for us with all we have going on right now and coming up in the next year.

I know it makes it more costly for everyone else, but there's nothing we can do.

If we win the lottery, well, that would change things, just a tad. There would be a DRN semi, with a heated/air conditioned trailer with sleeping quarters in it.

Posted by: Darby---------------------

I want to ride in the desert. Put my bike on that trailer.

Darby

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

Darby,
Can you get your bike up to me before then?
Wanna drive with us?

Posted by: Strick---------------------

You guys are going to LOVE it!

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Well Darby would make #8. Nikdog, Walt, Lou - do we have a solid plan? I'd bet there will be 1 or 2 more that will come to their senses before then and want to come along.

WooHoo - I can't wait.

Darby - this is something you will NOT regret I'm sure I could make a riding trip to LBL and bring Darby's bike back to my place also.

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

Yep
A solid plan has been confirmed. The arrangement is this:
6 bikes or less, Walt and Big Lou drive Walts pickup (F150 2 wheel drive).
7 -10 bikes, Walt and Big Lou drive Nik & Reds truck (F350 Diesel 4X4)

Prices
4-6 bikes 250 each
7 bikes aprox 230 each
8 bikes aprox 190 each
9 bikes aprox 160 each
10 bikes aprox 140 each

Disclaimer and other useless babblings:
on 4-6 bikes, price is firm unless gas goes over 2.30 a gal
on 7-10 bikes, deisel prices will affect final cost
Towing vehicle owner (s) will not pay fee and will recieve a "rental fee". trailer owner will also be given a small/fair rental fee.

A few things to keep in mind, Lou and I will be missing work and driving your bikes from KC to Reno. around 3300 miles round trip, through Colorado, in February, (snow). This trip will be at least 24 hours driving time each way with clear roads. The plan is to leave KC at noon on Wednesday. We will do our best to get there Thursday afternoon. If time permits, we would go strait to Moonrocks for your riding pleasure. Weather and road trip issues will dictate our arrival time. As long as roads are clear, we will drive strait thru.

Anouther topic that comes up is we all owe Nik and Red a GREAT BIG thank you. It should not be taken lightly that they are letting us use their monster truck to pull this off.

Posted by: Tony Eeds---------------------

Walt:

You will enjoy the ride out. It isn't really that bad unless it gets to 24 below like last year.

If you use Red's truck be sure you have the bra if it needs one for cold weather.

It is going to be an epic adventure!

Is it February yet?

Posted by: gnarlykaw---------------------

I call first bike on the blender!!
Maybe I won't have to bull dog a "cliff' this time!

Posted by: gnarlykaw---------------------

Ok, I just got off the phone with H20, and he told me he WANTS those last two slots on the trailer. Walt, He's gonna call you, ands firm up on it with ya.
This should make for a full boat from the midwest now!!

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

I had a 36 hour hold on those last 2 spots for Darby, so if he dont confirm them, they go to H2O.
Id say its a full load for now

Walt

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

JP is out, I cant believe it

Darby is x 2 now, his bro is coming.

9 confirmed on the Midwest haul to date.

Lou, is it possible to sqeeeeeeeeeze an 80 on the trailer, in addition to the 7 full size bikes, wadda ya think?
If so, H20 (Brad) and his son would join us.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Yeah, we brought 10 full size bikes and a fiddy last year. We can make an 80 fit.

Posted by: Darby---------------------

I could put a fiddy in a suitcase.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Ha! Not a bad idea! Here's the load from last year:
http://performancefactorymx.com/RENO/pages/DSC01972.htm
http://performancefactorymx.com/RENO/pages/Reno%20%2704%20Trailer%20(Medium).htm
http://performancefactorymx.com/RENO/pages/Reno%20%2704%20Trailer%20(Medium)%20(2).htm
http://performancefactorymx.com/RENO/pages/Reno3.htm
http://performancefactorymx.com/RENO/pages/Reno4.htm

I might be able to squeeze the big bikes a bit closer together, giving us another 6" or so at the back.

Another thing we need to discuss-gearbags. If everyone could bring the smallest gearbag possible that would be great.

Posted by: gnarlykaw---------------------

Please let me know that it is okay for H2O and his son. I will let him know today to go ahead and confirm air reservations. He's already bunking with me and Velcro. Thanks.

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Lou, did you guys haul gearbags last year or did everyone that was flying just check theirs on the plane?

Posted by: biglou---------------------

We had some gear with us. Don't recall who checked and who had it transported. Just with 11 riders, the more compact the better for sure. Passenger seat must recline for naps!

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

Ill give h20 a call and let him know its all good.
Now the laod is maxed out.

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

I'll plan on taking my gear on the plane, don't really want it sitting out on an open trailer. Hopefully everyone will do the same, 11 gearbags takes up a huge amount of room and weight.

If I was you I'd limit the trailer to bikes, gas cans and a couple toolboxes.

Posted by: h20---------------------

I'm In just got off the phone with walt he said
they would have room on the trailer for both bike

THANK YOU Walt,Lou, Rick and Eddy

H2o

Posted by: gnarlykaw---------------------

Just got off the phone with Gnarly (he's back at work after 3 months) and he's estatic that Brad and Bradley are going. I know Velcro will be happy. He'll have someone to hang out with!!

He'll call or email you later Brad. Congrats.

Mrs. Gnarly

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

I need email addy's for
Rick-gnarlykaw
Brad-H20
Darby's bro

thanks, Walt

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

Im collecting funds for the bike haul. Check your email for my address.

Im starting to get excited, 9 weeks to go and it'll be here before you know it.

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Walt, have you thought about what route you going yet?

Rick - we need to visit about getting all the bikes in this area to KC or wherever the pickup spot is. And back.

Posted by: h20---------------------

Hey Luckey don't forget I got that 5-10 trailer, it will hold 3-4 bikes if you need it.

Posted by: WaltCMoto---------------------

Eddie,
Plan 1
I need to talk to Nik and see if Im getting the truck on Tuesday, 6pm ish. If I do this might work out.
I was considering going thru St Louis on Tuesday night and perhaps sleeping there at your place from midnight till 6am wed. Then hitting the road to KC. I need to be at Lous between 10 and noon. How long does it take to get there from your place? As you can see Im still in the planning stages here. If this is the case I could haul a trailer also.

Plan 2
I get the truck the Sunday before and then its quicker for me to go 80 - Iowa - KC. If this is the case, Ill leave at 4 from my house and drive strait thru to Lous, getting there just after midnight.

Im needing to talk to Nik & Red first.

Walt

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

Walt, depending on how you drive you can figure about 3.5 hours from my door to Lou's.

Rick, looks like we're going to have 7 out of the 11 bikes here in St. Louis to try and get over to KC.

Posted by: gnarlykaw---------------------

LMAO!! Eddie, pick up your phone so we can figure that out. you know what i got for a trailer, brad's got one a little bigger than mine, and you had, scratch that, have an enclosed trailer. whos got the biggest? trailer that is. I thought, maybe, i'll take h2o's stuff, and mine, and head for K.C. the same time you go out.
