Enduro type bike for everyday?

Well after being out of the dirtbike scene for soooo many years it's been an eye opener trying to figure out what bike I want/need.
Seems the more I look, the more confused and indecisive I become.
Living in southwest Georgia (farm country), I have access to lots and lots of rarely travelled dirt roads and some nearby woods type trails. Primarily I want a bike with which to explore these roads and trails on a daily basis. I anticipate that a ride could last an hour, or half-a-day or more. As I gain seat time and become comfortable with riding the dirt again, I'd like to ride some enduros or hare scrambles in the region. I also have access to 2 nearby mx tracks which I'd like to be able to ride occasionally- though that's a fairly minor concern.
At this point I find the Yamaha wr series and the KTM exc series attractive. My plan is to make whatever bike I choose street-legal enough to satisfy any law enforcement I encounter, and then remove any unnecessary hardware when (and if) I begin riding events.
Would either series be up for everyday type riding or should I look in another direction? The Suzuki DRZ bikes appear to be a possibility but I've seen complaints about their weight, and that they seem to be a bit more street oriented. Almost sounds like I need 2-3 different bikes doesn't it? Decisions, decisions.
As always, thanks much for the advice and input. Ya'll are too cool!

Certain KTMs are license-able as sold. (At least they are in Ohio.) KDXs are close, but you'd probably have to jump through hoops for da man.

Thanks for the info gwcrim. I think it's fairly easy to tag a bike for the streets here in GA, especially since we don't have a vehicle inspection system.
Mostly curious about the durability and maintainence requirements for some of the more dirt oriented bikes if ridden daily.

Vampyrz,
If you were to consider a Suzuki DRZ, I have one for sale.
They make two versions, a dirt and a street. The KTMs are definitely race ready from the dealer for the most part, just add hand guards. The WRs are good bikes and having ridden one of them compared to the Suzuki, I would pick the Suzuki. Both are heavier bikes but the Zuk doesn't feel as heavy to me. The one I have for sale is titled as MC not an OHV here in Louisiana and I have dual sport kit on it.
I am leaving tonight to go offshore for two weeks in the gulf, but if you want some pics let me know.

Hey Moteaux,
Thanks for the good info. In all honesty the DRZ wouldn't have been my first choice, though I don't have any first hand experience with one to make a truly informed choice. I'm going to visit a few dealers and check some bikes out this week, maybe one of them will have one around. If I decide that's the way to go I'll definately take at look at yours.
I see that you also have a 300 exc? If you don't mind, could you give me an idea of how the DRZ and 300exc compare, or differ? I know you're heading offshore and I'm not in a great hurry just yet, so wait until you come back. I'm sure you've got your hands full today!
I really do appreciate it! Take care!
