Posting for a friend his been riding an old yamaha IT175 and ready to move up hes looking at the CRF or the KDX ive owned multipul KDX's and im hoping he gets one hes about 5"7 and about 170 we ride woods and out in my open field so what do you guys thing a good choice would be

Since the new XR's (now called CRF's) started the new name in 04, I'll assume you are talking about CRF250R's and CRF450R's? Kinda need this info to answer your question. Honda confused things when they named XR's CRF's. The CRF"R" 's are motocross bikes.

Actually Okie I don't think Honda has the XR250/400 listed in the 2005 linup 
At 5'7" I'll take a stab he means a CRF230. If that's the case I'd be inclined to go with the KDX unless the electric start and 4 stroke power delivery is more appealing.
