frozen bike

I went outside to ride my ttr-125 saturday, and the back wheel was locked up, I let it sit in the sun and it started to get a little loose so I took out the torch and put some heat on the back brake and near the engine and it worked

the same thing happened today (was 4 and -6 with windchill)
I decided not to ride today and just left the bike there

has this happened to anybody else, or do you know the cause of this

Thanks, in advance

nobody knows?????

Probably frozen condesation. Personally, I wouldn't leave my bike outside in the elements if at all possible. I can't imagine trying to start a ttr125 in 4 degree weather! Not to mention the accelerated wear until the engine warms up, etc. Is there a corner of the garage you can keep it in?

I keep it in my garage, however my garage doesn't have heat

I boarded up the window that is broken. and I am going to try to take a mini heater, and put it near the engine befor starting

the engine isn't what is freezing it seems like the chain is frozen, because after I move the bike around (with the wheel locked up) I can here a pop and then it rolls freely

The brake pads will freeze to the drum. That is most likely what is happening. Even happens to pickups, cars, etc. in really cold weather. A droplight placed under the rear hub should help prevent this. They give off a fair amount of heat. I'd place it face up under the hub with the bike on the kickstand.

should I put the heat in front of the engine also (will that help against the "accelerated wear" on the engine)

when I get home I will put heat on the brake drum and see if that is it

thanks
