Watching at the wire and Bubba crashed in Practice #2. Rumors flying over at motodrive from folks getting called by people in attendance of a serious arm or shoulder injury!. Hopefully the speculation is premature.

Over on RacerX:

Stewart injured in practice

After setting a fastest-lap time of 51.281, James Stewart cased the a jump in a rhythm section. The bike then high-sided, hitting him. Stewart stayed down for a good three or four minutes, and his left arm is currently wrapped. We’ll have more information as soon as we hear something….

RacerX: Although we have yet to hear an official word, James Stewart has allegedly broken a bone in either his left arm or wrist. Stewart emerged from his truck with a huge cast on his arm, his jacket draped over his shoulders, and a very, very sad look on his face.

Word came to us from a reliable source, although we must stress that this has not yet been confirmed. We hope to have an official announcement for you shortly, so stay tuned.

Bring on the "I told you so's"

Maybe... we'll all get lucky and this is proven wrong (severity of the injury). Was sure looking like the best season ever, still a great one, but just won't live up to the hype if he's out.

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

How about deleting this and putting it in the pratice time spoiler so you dont ruin the tv coverage for those of us that want to watch it tomorrow.

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

Told you so but im totally gutted-the season wont be the same now and we will have to wait till a strong bubba is riding again.Very bad news.

Posted by: steve125---------------------

This news is a huge bummer. nothing worse than when its over, before it ever even started.

Posted by: Chili---------------------

I'm feeling pretty good being the only guy to take Bubbles in Fantasy SX this week. Didn't take Pastrana since I figured he'd be too big a risk

The Factory Connection crew just let our own Eric Johnson take a look at their videotape of James Stewart's practice crash from this afternoon. According to EJ, Stewart went into an inside berm and overcooked it, causing the back end of his bike to slide out. Low on momentum, he tried to triple the upcoming jump. He cased the landing and the bike bounced twice, and Stewart put his arm out to cushion his fall. EJ said the impact looked absolutely awful. Stay tuned.

a 250 aint' quite as forgiving as a 125 . . .

damn the accidental Stewart vBet

Posted by: biglou---------------------

Merged Combat's thread into this one.

Posted by: joe_264d264---------------------

That sucks you lost all your vcash, but we are all going to miss out on a season that would have unbelievable............ But I guess it should still be better then last year.

Specialists are being called as we speak to see who the best Doctor is to get it fixed. Needless to say Bubba is quite bumbed out. More updates to follow.

Anybody having problems with the webcast?

I don't seem to get it (AMA scoring I'm getting fine)

Posted by: Chili---------------------

Webcast has been flawless here. Make sure you have the newest version of Windows Media player.

Posted by: Tony Williams---------------------

I have version 10

Posted by: Chili---------------------

*shrugs* Maybe try re-installing?

Posted by: john3_16---------------------

RC's average heat race laptime 51.6

Reed's average heat race lap time 51.7

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

The Racer X quote about Bubba is a little misleading as it makes it sound like he had the fastest practice lap. Below are the actual top 10 in practice.

1 00:51.043 Ricky Carmichael
2 00:51.281 James M Stewart
3 00:51.515 Kevin W Windham
4 00:51.947 Chad Reed
5 00:52.346 David Vuillemin
6 00:52.369 Jeremy A McGrath
7 00:53.017 Timmy M Ferry
8 00:53.075 Travis A Pastrana
9 00:53.167 Sebastien Tortelli
10 00:53.238 Mike Larocco

Posted by: Tony Williams---------------------

So, what happened to Ramsey... stall? crash?

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

Went down and could not restart. Pushed to mechanics area, where they started his bike for him (outside assistance?). He re-entered the race but still crossed the line 22nd (no points).

Posted by: Tony Williams---------------------

Ok, what happened to Pastrana and LaRocco?

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Pastrana? Guess.
No idea on the Rock, but he was lapped.

Posted by: john3_16---------------------

I think Pastrana dropped out early.

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

Pastrana crashed on lap 2 or 3 and DNF. Webcasters were vague about his condition but later said they thought he was OK, but did not know his status for next week.

The Rock got a last place start. They did not talk much about him on the webcast, but he must have tipped over as RC lapped him by like lap 5. LaRocco passed a few guys near the end of the race, but he was way back from the beginning and spent most of the race as the last active rider.

Posted by: Chili---------------------

Rock had some sort of mechanical after tangling with DV I think. He had to pull into the mechanics area to get something tended to.

Well guy's,

Just walked in the door from the SX and man what a crazy day of racing. Bubba's crash was pretty ugly and he hit the ground VERY hard. I hope they show it tomorrow on the webcast so everyone can see what he was trying to do. I didn't see him blow the berm, he was just trying to make a double into a triple...

But The rock did tangle with DV and did have mechanical problems, and Pastrana was rode up into the tuff blocks and was taken out. He looks like a completely new guy out there this year. He isn't doing anything crazy, he is riding within his abilities (or at least doesn't always look out of control), but tonight he just had the usual Pastrana bad luck... Hopefully he will be back next weekend as he was holding his wrist as he limped back to pick his bike up.

But it was a great night of racing and hope everyone get's a chance to watch the web cast.

Dave

I was listening to the webcast and watching the live scoring and Metcalfe was doing pretty good against the four strokes and was in a transfer position until he got tangled up with a rider that was down. I'm disappointed that he was the only one on a two stroke in the 125 class.

I thought MC looked really good out there but I think he needs to be in better shape.
