Protection for New Old-Timer Trail Rider

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: otterend---------------------

I'm a veteran mountain biker. Branching out, I just sprang for a KTM 250EXC to learn to ride the local ORV / Woods trails. No air or top end speed in my plans. Want to preserve the mid-40s head, knees and a marginal neck. Recommendations on protection? (Are folks going laugh at a foam neck protector?)

Just get the basics...like helmet, boots, chestprotector, and ride within your limits, and you should be fine. Have fun.

I wear a neck protector and will not ride w/out one.. I use one from Procyclesafety.com You dont even notice it is there, worth the insurance IMO.. Nikki did a write up on one a few years ago that helped me w/my purchase.. As for other protection, helmet, goggles, chest protector w/neck protector attached, jersey, riding pants, knee cups and boots.. oh, and gloves too.. Hope this helps you out and welcome too the sport and fun..
Rick
