04 yz450f shock on a 2005 yz125?

Does anyone know if a shock from a 2004 yz 450f will fit
on a 2005 yz 125? As long as the lengths, eye to eye, are
the same, it should work right?

Yes as long as the length is the same, a few mm makes a big difference on shock length.

Dimensionally, both components are identical. But the '05 shock uses a hydraulic top-out feature (which is no big deal). The '04 YZ450F shock uses a 5.3kg (yellow mark) spring and the '05 YZ125 I believe uses a 4.7kg (red mark) spring. Valving specs are also different, but to answer your question, it WILL FIT.....

Thanks for the reply, that is what I wanted to hear.
I just bought a complete shock for an 04 yz450 new in the
box for $180. I'm going to use it as a spare shock. I'll
be sending it off to mx-tech for a revalve.
