complete valves?

i am trying to do some "fork work" and can only find kits that have the entire assembly in all different pieces so that you can try new ideas for the way you ride. i can't seem to find any assemblies that come together like bolt on. i found one kit like this and it also came with different shims to try out but not for my bike. can some one help me out?

If you are wanting a "re-valve" kit that is specific to you and your weight/riding style you will have to call some sup builders to see if they will sell you the parts and specs. Not likely.

If you need parts to "rebuild" your forks let us know what bike you are working on and maybe we can help.

i'm working on my 1990 cr 125. (yea i may be old) but for noew its my "good" bike. i don't really want to go to the height of valving to my exact weight(not enough money yet ) but just want to use some kit to upgrade from what i have now. i know the race tech kit sounds good at a good price, but i don't understand if i need to "take aprt" the assembly.

Sounds like you need to just do a rebuild first, then see what it needs from there. Race Tech makes an inner bushing for those forks that is supposed to help remove some of the harshness. You need to completely disassemble everything and give it all a good cleaning and insp. The parts, including bushings, seals, dust wipers and oil will cost in the area of $100.00-120.00. Plus you will need a manual of some sort, an oil level gauge (can use a turkey baster) and a torque wrench plus the wrenchs to fit various sizes of nuts/bolts. You will need to disaasemble the valve stacks to clean them and likely replace some of the shims due to wear and/or rust. Most of the valving assemblies are peened together requiring fileing/grinding the retaining nut and stem to get then apart.

You may be ahead to check out some MC salvage yards for some later model forks and do a swap? That is what I would do. The early model inverted forks were not very good especially the Showas from 90-95. Very harsh.

i already replaced the seals and dust seals, cleaned every part and put fresh oil in. I just don't understand how the "valve" in the bottom of the fork comes apart. if i could find an exploded view or descriptive explanation on how desemble nd assemble one then i could just order the kit from race tech.

what do the "new bushings do? are they a softer metal or something?

one more question: how much on average does it cost for me to send my forks out to get them revalved, "better" bushings, and the right sring rate for my weight? i just ask this question b/c i can get the bushings, gold valve kit, and new springs for about $300. now i can do the springs and bushing myself, but i'm still not sure on the valving?
