Hey all. I just started racing this year. Had first race at K burg two weeks ago. Harescrambles. D14. Question for all you vets out there is can you race well with an rm125? Is this considered a 201 and under bike? How is such a bike for stop and go hill climbing? Thanks!

In Missouri your RM125 runs in the 200cc and under class, I assume it would in Illinois. My son currently rides a 02 RM125 in this class. It won't climb like an XR but it is quick, light and easy to throw around in the tight woods and when you dump it, it starts on one or two kicks. If you are going to climb with this bike you need to keep your momentum, grab a handful of throttle and hold on. You can win with this bike if you ride it right, I seen a kid win the series with the same RM125.
Grip it 'n Rip it!

My friend races an RM125 (2002, I think) up here in the PNWMA series. He loves it! He said it makes decent low end for a 125, but it'll be a lot less than an XR200R. I'm making the switch from an XR200R to a GasGas EC200 (with XC flywheel and ignition) and it's a bit of a shock. You will need to learn how to use the clutch and keep your momentum up. I say go for it, but be prepared for a learning curve. Once you master it, you won't regret switching.
