Race #3 for Stewart.. what's it gonna be?
Stand-up and be counted

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

30 views and 6 votes.. lol, looks like some of us prefer to talk about it after the fact

Posted by: nephron---------------------

Only nephron and nikki so far. Come on, guys. His break-in race is done. This one's his. ....and I've also decided to drive down for this one, all 9 1/2 hours of it, come hell or high water.

Posted by: dante---------------------

He's going to win... that's my vote...

Posted by: Ol'89r---------------------

I figure he's gonna' go, blow or punch a hole in the fence.

I give him the win, if he can keep it up. The kid is amazing.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Hey Neph.. look for the three rows of DRN'ers .. we're usually easy to spot

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

I voted 2-3 ... I just have a feeling he's going to show a lot of restraint this time out.

And I have a feeling RC's not!

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

I really think he will win more than once before the year is over, but I voted 2-3 this week.

My guess is he will lead a few laps, bobble or fall, then charge back (no settling for third this week) but just miss out on the win.

+1

Where's the vcash!?

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

I'll buy the bobble a few times... but I'll stick my neck out and say he doesn't fall in the main.

Posted by: kniles812---------------------

I think it's gonna be Bubba and RC all the way to the end. Bubba will come out on top though

Section 13, Row 40, Seats 105 & 106. I'll be there with a friend.

Posted by: KiwiBird---------------------

I'm pickin Bubba to stand on top but hope it's a good race and RC keeps him honest.

JBS
RC
CR

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

I don't know where we're sitting lol, TwinSpar dealt with getting the tickets.

Posted by: O.T.---------------------

why dont my friend okie ever call?

Posted by: O.T.---------------------

has my phone ringer been turned off ? o.t.

Posted by: john3_16---------------------

Man, I don't even think it's safe to pick one anymore...Dallas is almost always really tight and that plays into favor RC's favor with the Suzuki chassis...However the track is a bit slick so maybe that will favor Reed...Then we have Bubba throwing a nasty lap time down last week, but I don't think that kind of speed can be maintained for very long without falling or getting tired. If he tones it down a notch, gets a decent start, and keeps that pace for 20 laps he will be capable of it.

Last years Dallas SX was the worst track ever...The triples were so tiny, easy, and non technical that both KW and Reed were hitting it with the gas off and still over jumping it...And not just the triples, the rythm section and whoops were not up to par...My wife even noticed that the track looked tame compared to the others.

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

I think he will win this one, reed and rc are now going to only think of the title, winning a single race isnt important with bubba back, as he will want the win so bad, reed and rc will race each other and not worry about bubba.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

Ah, yes...proof that the denial still exists ....already rationalizing Reed's most certain ass-whippin' by Bubba.

But for Reed to win the title, he has to win and RC finish 3rd or worse. Or at least he has to put several riders between him and RC. But then again, considering Marcus's prediction that RC would go down in the last two races, its hard to doubt him!

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

Yes rc needs to get a bad result for reed to win-thats why rc wont race too hard with bubba(but he will race) reed cannot do that much IMO now, RC knows he can get 3rds, so even if Reed beats bubba every race, RC can just sit and watch, the only stupid thing would be for rc too crash hard chasing bubba. If i was reed i would push rc out in a corner and bend his levers

I suppose reed would have to go for each win but its going to be a tall order, a healty bubba is going to be hard to beat and rc has proven he will race for pride's sake.

So in conclusion i have no clue at all

Posted by: rickyd---------------------

I wanna see some History, Go BUBBA!!

Posted by: Uchytil---------------------

JS is becoming more patient, however, he is young and will push it. He'll win. I think CR is coming into his groove (he just beat RC). Poor RC, he's who I want to win but...

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Going to say he will get a second place finish.

Posted by: XR3J---------------------

I voted podium. Just don't know if Bubba can reign himself in enough yet to be up on top. I'm with alot of others though, who say watch out in the future. He is fast!

Posted by: oldguy---------------------

I am going for a 4th to 6th only because he will go down and lose a coiuple spots

Posted by: YZ165---------------------

Somebody's always gotta ruin my fun.......

Posted by: CajunKid---------------------

I say podium 2 or 3. I know he has got the speed to win it, just don't think he can keep that pace for 20 with out going down. Reed struggled with that his first year. I remember RC saying he let him by b/c he knew Reed would not last at that pace. Sure enough it took CR about half the season to figure it out. I don't think Bubba needs have the season, I think he will win one be4 the season is up.

Posted by: BEEF706---------------------

My head says, CR, JBS, RC, My heart says RC JBS CR, Either way I'm predicting second, (I think he'll lead and bobble) but dang I hate it when they have a week off

Posted by: Thump---------------------

Anybody remember how he did the last time he raced Dallas? LOL

I put him down for the win. I think Dallas handed all of the bad luck it had to him last go around.

Yup... they can't afford to mess with him, regardless of how fast he is or is not!

Posted by: CaptainObvious---------------------

After watching the Orlando race yesterday (thank you ESPN for showing the race 8 days later!), my money is on Bubba for the win, with RC more than 5 seconds behind.

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

It may of been late but atleast ESPN2 started to add the second viewing box when they do their stupid replays over and over. Now we can still watch a smaller version of the race while they get their "Butterfinger Holeshot" commercial in.

Posted by: Micahdawg---------------------

I'm going for the big hurt, but I'm calling Reed for the win. I think RC and Bubba will be out front with Reed several seconds behind. But I don't think either RC or Bubba will go 20 laps without going down....whereas Reed can.

When RC goes down first, Reed will slip by. Then when Bubba goes down....Reed will slip by again.

RC will be too pissed ot not go down though

Micah

Posted by: nephron---------------------

Whoa, Micah! Way to go out on a limb there. So you're saying there's going to be no change from Orlando to Dallas? Easy Ace...

IMO, no way in hell RC pulls off some unwise display of emotion, ruining his title. My bet is that he won't win another the rest of the year. Not because he couldn't....he's just too damned smart to push it. Now throw Reed's response to Bubba in there, and you've got a situation where Reed has to beat Bubba to gap 5 points on RC per race (if Bubba gets 2nd consistently)...thus Reedy needs to push it over the edge...all the while considering the possibility that RC goes down and out, which would make it wiser to pull back and let Bubba by.

Nothing that hasn't been said before....I just think Reed's dilemna is fascinating. RC, on the other hand, knows full well what to do to keep the title. As he said once: "Nobody remembers races, but they do remember championships".

Posted by: SpectraSVT---------------------

WIll RC go back on what he said earlier in the year? He said he would not lay down and get complacent again. He wants to go out winning. Is he getting cold feet now and decided to change his gameplan? I don't think he will settle. He may possibly settle with Bubba but I don't think he wants to go out losing 6 races in a row to Reed again.

Posted by: Micahdawg---------------------

HA Nephron...I didn't even realize that was the same thing as Orlando. At least I'm not calling Reed to break down at the line again...totally different

What RC should do and what he actually does are two different things. There's a lot of Bubba hype and RC can't be happy with the way Bubba embarassed him (did you see the look on his face when interviewed). I think for at least one more race he's got enough ego to lay it all out. If the exact same scenario happens again though.........he would almost definitely back off and go into full protect mode.

I think Bubba and RC have way too much to prove whereas Reed has established himself as not pushing the envelope. In Atlanta Reed was pushing himself too hard (staying with RC) and wiped out. That was it. He just needs to let those two duke it out and stay close enough to sneak by again.

Micah

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Quote:

And it's a good plan to let RC and Bubba mix it up, he already knows what it's like to mix it up with JBS

Reed is playing it perfectly imho. When JBS walks RC in their heat and it's 8 secionds faster than Reed's .....

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

So your saying you want to see Reed push bubba till he crashes?

LOL that 8 seconds will mean so much to bubba when he finishes the season 15th and RC/CR are 1/2.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Marcus, it's hard to take your trolls seriously when you selected JBS to win Dallas. Sheez man.

Posted by: Tiger---------------------

The pressure is on Chad Reed if he wants a shot at the Title. He impressed us at Daytona! Orlando too.

Still, Stewart has the talent to get out front and walk away.

RC wants to race, but wants the Title more. :D

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

Okie if we are playing a game of whos right more often-do you seriously think you will win

Posted by: nephron---------------------

I predict marcus will begin to bobble and lose the title.

coocoo: RC has nothing to prove to Bubba ( and I am a Bubba fan BTW ) and Reed does need to prove that he won last year because he was the best and not because RC was injured. I think RC was upset on the podium because he made a bone head mistake, not because of Bubba. If he has to, he will let Bubba win, he doesn't have to beat Reed, for the most part he can coast as long as he doesn't DNF along the way.( OK I didn't do the math but you get the idea) Championships pay money and recognition, wins pay..... just not as well.

Posted by: john3_16---------------------

RC has the least pressure and it's all on Reed right now..It's a must win every race here on out situation for Reed and hoping someone else will get second instead of RC...That's what Reed is facing if he has a chance to win the title...Reed is going to have to pick up his lap times and risk falling because he must win.

If Bubba wins, Reed will be pretty much out of luck for the title...

If RC sees Bubba out front and Reed in 2nd he can just cruise all day in 3rd place and wrap up the title and "best SX racer" honors....

Posted by: Micahdawg---------------------

Interesting that the poll has Bubba NOT winning. So most folks think RC will beat Bubba?

Micah

Posted by: Erick82---------------------

Bubba will crash, he crashed last week in practice and the race, I would not be supprised if he hurts himself again and screws up his chance for a national title.

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

Accuweather shows little/no rain this week. Track should be fast and not slick. I predict Bubba to take the lead and then RC's competitiveness will get the best of him. Look for an all out last lap. If Pastrami joins in the fun it will be even better, not that he will last but should give somebody fits. Is MC gonna race this one? He will always be my fave to pull the holeshot.

Whaddya mean 'if'? I'm sure Bubba is fully capable of winning by...yes, this is not a typo...15-25 seconds. Is it a prediction? No...I hate 'em. Who knows if he will go down or not? I can honestly say that I believe that if he doesn't, that's the least he could win by.

Let the flame party start.

Posted by: Micahdawg---------------------

These riders have a lot of pressure on them from the factory, team mates, friends family, themselves...not to mention the fans. It's gotta be hard to watch someone just pull away from you under these conditions and not get flustered. Reed has been well trained and can deal with it, but I don't see RC handling it -that- well.

Micah

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

After finally being able to see Orlando.. I'm changing my vote. I agree with Marcus, JBS wins Dallas.

Posted by: KiwiBird---------------------

So, you're agreeing with me too then Okiewan?

I've been watching the kid at the Kawie track for months now Okie. He does some amazing things. Makes the other guys just walk away shaking their heads. When Bubba's on the track, everybody watches.

The best part about him is his youthful exuberance. He is just flat having fun out there. And it shows.

Posted by: john3_16---------------------

The weather is looking really good down here right now....It's supposed to be in the 70's and sunny on saturday..Right now it's 77 degrees...The open roof and the April shedule at Texas stadium always has me worried about track conditions...So if it's the same dirt as years past it's going to be hard and slick...Too aggressive of an approach in the corners can be a disaster...Tire selection and strategy are going to play a big part in the win...

Stewart needs to chill a little, Reed has to push it and play it smart, and RC needs his front end dialed in.

Could KW surprise us with a podium finish ?

Posted by: Crash 142---------------------

If Pastrana gets in there and screws up any one of those guys with a bonehead move, he should be shot.

I like Pastrana, but he shouldn't be on the track with two championship contenders and one future 250 champion (after Ricky retires).

I'm a Ricky fan, but if Dallas is hard and slick, I think Reed's smoothness will win.

Ricky's brain is bigger than his pride. He will win the championship. Then he'll celebrate for five minutes and get to work winning the outdoor championship.

Here's what we do for Pastrana - The AMA hires a mafia goon. Every time Pastrana's healed up and ready to race, the goon breaks one of his bones. Same results for Travis, and no one else gets hurt.

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Maybe i missed something but i dont believe Pastrana took anyone else out when he's gotten hurt? Wasnt this last time the result of someone else taken him out? I cant wait to see all 4 mixing it up.

Posted by: Crash 142---------------------

Ask Mike LaRocco (2002? Travis broke his wrist at a SX - I think the same one where Windham broke his leg).

And who did Travis ruin the night for last year when he came back and raced all of three corners of the main before crashing and taking out someone? Did he ruin Grant Langston's start, or take him out for the night? I think someone else besides Travis was done for the night (not positive).

He's ruined several raced for LaRocco. I even remember one race where they touched mid-air over a triple. Fortunately no one went down that time.

He also tried to take out Ricky at Anaheim last year. But even Bailey said, Ricky's like a Weeble - he wobbles, but doesn't fall down. Travis even said if Ricky tried something he was just going to gas it. He basically threw his bike at Ricky.

Actually, to be fair, when he broke LaRocco's wrist, Bailey said it wasn't really Travis' fault, it was where two lines came together. But it just seems odd if there is a potentially dangerous section, Pastrana will prove it to be so.

Like I said, I like Travis, but unless he's going to take the series seriously, he should stay on the freestyle courses where it's one rider at a time.

And think about it from this guy's perspective - Roger DeCoster.

Posted by: Solid State---------------------

Sorry folks, but I believe Ricky has just shifted into cruise mode. He has now seen how fast Bubba is and he will deal with him head to head in the outdoors. He knows that he has the indoors wrapped up if he does not DNF or get hurt. He owes Roger a championship - not just race wins (at least two championships for four million bucks salary to be exact).

He is not concerned about Reed because he already has him beat for the present SX series and dominates him outdoors. He will still ride very hard and capitalize on anyone's mistakes, but he will not let Roger and Suzuki down and try to take it to some new level.

The outdoors will be another story. If he and Bubba stay healthy till then, it will be a battle royale - at least for a few weekends until one of them gets into the other's head or one of them gets hurt (take your pick which is which).

As far as Dallas:

1. Bubba
2. Reed
3. Ricky

And it will pretty much look like that for the rest of the season. Reed and Bubba will probably have at least one great battle as both have alot to prove to each other, but history has shown who is faster. Also, I agree with a previous poster that Bubba will win at least one moto by 10-15 seconds. Would also be interesting to see Ricky on the 4-stroke before the end of SX if he manages a couple more wins.

Ok, i remember that one now. I thought the comment by Bailey was pretty funny. Guess he cant say that about RC this season.
