Bubba 4th

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

I thought the next big thing was ruling the house. What could have happened?

Posted by: rickyd---------------------

He settled for 4th

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Let's cut to the chase; who wins the outdoors?
Avoid it? Nah, not the rat and spankyboy.

Posted by: super rat---------------------

I did pick RC to win the SX title, No? Is that what you're talking about?

Posted by: super rat---------------------

in case you forgot. LOL!

Posted by: ellandoh---------------------

bubba takin more soil samples

Posted by: jzyz---------------------

Great race!! KW hole shot and lead for several laps but couldn't hold off CR and RC. Bubba got schooled by RC with a great pass. Bubba slid out trying for a pass and then fell again later.

kinda like the King did the week before? RC shouldn't be falling these says, bubba gets a pass, after all everyone predicted he'd fall a lot?

Posted by: bclapham---------------------

this is getting old now, Okie, sorry dude, the rat OWNS YOU!!!!!!!! time to get over it and move on.

Posted by: Fred T---------------------

Yuk it up guys. I was there and Bubba was clearly faster. He went by Reed quickly and easily and was running 3rd and all over RC when he lost the front tire in a corner that had several guys go down in all night. He got passed all the way back to 7th and made it back to 4th. The out doors is gonna be fun this year.

Posted by: super rat---------------------

I wasn't there but you might want to check this out;

1 22 00:46.704 Main Event Chad Reed Dade City, FL Yamaha YZ250
2 4 00:46.861 Main Event Ricky Carmichael Havana, FL Suzuki RM250
3 14 00:47.020 Main Event Kevin W Windham Centreville, MS Honda CRF450R
4 259 00:47.135 Main Event James M Stewart Haines City, FL Kawasaki KX250

Those are main event lap times, I think Bubba turned some faster laps in his heat. I don't know the full story, maybe he didn't have a front brake?

I'm not yucking it up, this is what we all wanted to see, good racing. I don't get why some of you guys get all pissy when your favorite rider doesn't win. Anyone who has seen Bubba ride knows he's wicked fast, I just didn't think he was going to jump into the 250 class and dominate straight away, and it looks like I was right.

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

It surprised me a that Bubba could not gain at all on RC & Chad even when he had a clear track. I figured he would narrow the gap a little, especially as the riders ahead of him were battling. But Bubba just ran the same pace as RC/Chad/KW, maybe even a little slower.

Nice job by Windham getting on the podium! And he beat Chad in the heat race, too.

And Langston takes the title on a tiebreaker. Man, he must have been sweating bullets as he was being hounded for 4th place.

Since we are making predictions for outdoors - I am going with RC, JBS, KW and Chad in that order.

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

Seems to me bubba cant stay on with zero pressure on him in championship standings!-going to make it hard if hes leading after half way through the nats?

Chad and RC are not going to let anyone walk off with the titles, please no one mention how fast bubba is before during or after a crash-the top 5 could all go faster if they we willing to crash out-they dont want to, so they take it back a notch.Bubba needs to lean that.

Let me get this straight.....you start this thread with a smartass comment about a rider your clearly feel threatens your spot on one of RC's warm nuts, somebody responds ONCE, and now you're bawling because they did? Get your ass off the jester donkey, man.

BTW--what are you gonna do when RC retires to Shady Meadows in redneck heaven and starts driving golfcarts for a living? Cheer for Alessi? Oh, wait...you already do.

Looks like a fun track..

I'm with Captain Obvious on that one.

RIght on, they like girls

Posted by: MXGirl230---------------------

Hopefully your nephews weren't the unsupervised ones that kept standing in the isle next to us. We were in section 120, in the seats right at the beginning of the triple and the end of the whoops, in the first row. Great racing though. I think that's the loudest I've heard the crowd at the Pontiac race.
We saw ourselves on ESPN2 today!! At the end when CR was slapping hands we were on. I'm wearing a baby blue Thor Moto hoody w/ metallic blue Oakleys on my head and my hair pulled back. Phil was the one on my right wearing a Green polo shirt and a brown Fox hat. We got some great pics. Saw a lot of fallovers in that turn, Stewart, DV, Millsaps...

Posted by: Smit-Dog---------------------

Miscellaneous ramblings...

I was most impressed with Windham's speed. He had a decent lead for quite a while, but CR and RC closed the gap in the last 5 laps. RC rode a smooth, smart race. Bubba and RC were in the same heat, and Bubba had a huge lead in that one. He wasn't all that impressive in the main... the bobble/crash probably messed his head up a bit.

I was rooting for RC. He's never won at Pontiac, and Suzuki hasn't won there since 1983!

Kelly Smith is really fast and fun to watch for the first few laps...

Ran into Juha Salminen twice - once walking around the pits, and then in the men's room! I don't think anyone knew who he was. Looked like a regular joe just there to spectate. Would've guessed he was accountant if I didn't know better.

Saw a streaker running up and down the parking lot as we were heading out after the race. He was drunk, and the weather had obviously cooled at night. My kids learned what a "streaker" was...

This will most likely be the last Supercross at Pontiac, a venue that has hosted more SX events than any other location (beginning in 1976). I remember when they ran part of the track up into the stands, way up to the top of the lower bowl - Wild!

Anyway, the plan is to demo the Silverdome after the 2006 Superbowl (hosted by Detroit). I don't know if Ford Field (the Lions new home) is large enough for an SX. It will be sad if SX leaves the motorcity.

We were actually wondering the same. We haven't seen the Ford Field and wondered if it's a dome or what it is or how big.

Oh we are 100% sure that more idiots attend SX than the outdoors. I wanted to smack all of the people who thought they knew what was going on and were like TWO YEARS behind on their info...

Thats most likely cause only the die hards brave the elements.

I saw posted elsewhere today that Ford Field has a strict no motorsports policy. I have no idea on the accuracy of that info but it was on the internet so it's gotta be true right?

Posted by: BEEF706---------------------

Best race I've seen in a while (cept maybe Daytona) KW shows real speed, RC shows real grit (the hematoma thing is UGLY I did one on my hip last spring) CR shows some determination ( and aint afraid to try to take Ricky out endearing him to Pred ) the SX season is suddnly fun and we got real racing!!! Oh yeah we can start a pool on whether rat gets a lifetime ban or his kidney removed (don't go to any bars and let strange women buy you a drink, the doc's got a knife and definitely knows how to use it. )

Posted by: super rat---------------------

Yeah, I hope Bubba starts winning soon or it'll be the end of me around here. These guys get pretty sensitive when he losses.

sensitive schmensitive. RC sucks

Posted by: cr250can---------------------

What a good race. I was there And whatching a race in person is sooooo much better in person. I can whatch who I want and not who ever the cameras on. I don't have to listen to annoying anouncers. And ther was a multiplicity of hot chicks.

I was praying tha KW could hold on to his lead. but I seemed like RC became possesed in the last 5 or six laps. the pass he did on RC was wicked. He did even look back. Who ever the first lapper windham came up on was a jerk man he kept getting in kw's line and slowing him up.

It was a good time

Can't wait for red bud. gues untill then I'l have to ride.

Posted by: Micahdawg---------------------

Great racing. This is undoubtedly the best that Kevin Windham has looked all year. I keep pulling for Reed to win, but frankly...it would have been pretty cool to see Kevin pull it off. His heat looked awesome and getting the holeshots both times had to really pump him up.

And who is this Kelly Smith?!?! Also took both holeshots and looked like a firecracker off the start.

Micah

Posted by: Smit-Dog---------------------

Jaw dropper of the night: After Bubba fell and was scrambling to make up time, he passed a guy mid-air over the finish line jump with a wicked whip. From my vantage point it looked like JBS was trying to put his rear tire under this guy's chin "See this tread sucka... step aside!" I'm sure the other rider was a little unnerved...

Posted by: dante---------------------

It would have been so cool if KW won this race... He was looking like he was gonna hold them off... What a good win for Reed... JBS passed reed like he was standing still though earlier in the main... I think/know RC is holding back big time, he can go faster if he wanted to... RC is in full championship protection mode... If RC was back in points he would have gone faster... We'll all have to wait for outdoors to see if RC can hold JBS off... I think Reed will improve more for outdoors this year than even last but I don't think it will be enough to be ahead of JBS in points by the end of the outdoor season... For outdoors it's a toss betwween RC and JBS but I'll have to give the nod to RC, TWO PERFECT seasons, he's only 25, and RC is still the man...

Posted by: pace---------------------

It's a little frustrating (albeit completely understandable) to watch RC not push CR for the lead, but for me this was still one of the more exciting races this season. We got to watch the four quickest SX riders throw down for several laps, and even after Bubba went down there was some great racing action between the front three.

They ought to do more of that kind of stuff. Perhaps endurocross will if it takes off here. Maybe a wicked up hill jump that takes the riders to the top of the stadium on one end. I'm sure it would be messy and expensive to build, but very cool.

always like to say that

Kelly Smith was the master of holeshots, two seasons ago?? I think he holeshot just about every race. I'm glad they kept him on the 4 stroke, there was talk about him being on a two. Four stroke is his specialty. Got to ride a few laps w/him at ZMX a few months ago...there wasn't many people so all the big bikes rode together. Course I couldn't keep up, but it was fun being on the same track. He made that track look so easy Valade, Randy Woodring, and another AX guy can't think of his name at the moment were also there...

Anyway, back to Pontiac...what are they going to do w/the building? Blow it up, use it for something else/?? If the other stadium has strict rules on motorsports, then the silverdome could provide a building for those purposes...I don't know, just fun being able to go to a race in your own state. ..As long as they don't take away Red Bud I'll be okay!

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

So the end is near for a couple (more) great buildings... The Silver Dome and Texas Stadium. Think of all the historic venues that have fallen in the past few years alone.

Posted by: HiG4s---------------------

I spent some good times in the Silverdome back in the day when the Pistons still played there and Silverdome Supercross was a two day event with amatuers racing after the pros.. but I am more upset that they tore down Tiger Stadium..

http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/NASAp...park/venues.jsp

Posted by: cr250can---------------------

I worked at chrysler (next door to the silver dome for awhile and I had heard that chrysler didn't want the dome to be taken down. also the city of pontiac would lose some serious revenue if it was gone.
