Don't they know it rains in Seattle... like every day? Makes perfect sense to have an SX there in an open stadium.

Posted by: rickyd---------------------

Now the points are really up in the air, I kinda like it.. They should of figured on rain,

Oh well, were closer too the Nats

Reed makes a "rookie" mistake in his heat and off to the semi.

Posted by: john3_16---------------------

Why in the world would someone build an open stadium in Seattle ?

Posted by: Tony Williams---------------------

My stupid media player never works on this computer, so, once again, I can't hear the webcast. I'm too lazy to go out in the GMC pickup and listen to the XM broadcast on channel 152.

download the #10 update

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Chad makes a "rookie" mistake in the main...
Need to see that one, sounds like he and Stewart came together in the first turn.

Posted by: Tony Williams---------------------

Stewart takes rookie lead

Posted by: Tony Williams---------------------

and even though I can't hear this, I do see Stewart picking up a second per lap...

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Great run thru the pack for Reed!

Posted by: Tony Williams---------------------

Is Windham going to get RC????

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Rookie win for JBS, Reed doesn't make the podium (unreal run tho)

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Unoffical:

JBS
K-Dub
RC
Reed
LaRocco
Vuileman (lapped)
Preston
Evans
Voss
Ferry
Thomas

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

James? Reedy put on one hell of a show... He's the hero as of this race as far as I'm concerned.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

Stewart is slow. Inconsistent. He sucks. He's too crazy, wild, and out of control to be a true champion. Reed? He's the ultimate. What....place was he?.........snoooooorrrrrreeee.

Posted by: ellandoh---------------------

k dub may be a sleeper for the nationals??
bowfinger is gonna get brakechecked
cr will get some
rc will get it one more time

Posted by: rickyd---------------------

anybody know if and when the race will be televised??

Posted by: super rat---------------------

RC pulls down another title, unbelievable.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Tell ya what, the vets better be pulling out all the tricks, because Stewart is faster outside than he is inside.

Tomorrow night ESPN2, 9-11 PM Central.

Hey we're all wondering here, my windows media player cut out just as the guy said " let me give you the Butterfinger", so did he slip Ol' JBS the butterfinger or was it the holeshot award

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Well I sure hope some of you guys can find some comments to complain about from his press conference this week, sure makes for some entertaining reads

shall we start a thread for em now okiewan and should we call it "Bubba the Mouth strikes again pt II" or "Bubba the Mouth strikes again: return of the jedi"

i cant wait to see what chads boys are gonna say about the 1st turn issed:

Posted by: Tiger---------------------

Damn, I haven't seen this race.

Still, Chad has been banging other guys (Windham, RC, etc...) for years now in the first turn (and getting away with it. Always glad to see someone get a dose of their own medicine. Looks like he handled it well too. Good for him.

My DirecTV TiVo says Friday evening ESPN2 telecast is a "repeat"...but shows NO initial telecast. Did SX get bumped again? I'm gonna hate to wait until Friday. I love mud races!

Where the hell is Ernest Fonseca this year?

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Ernie fell several times in each; practice, heat and main, sounded he and Voss had a REALLY hard time last night.

Still shows-up in the ESPN2 listings here (starting at 9 CST)

Look's like he made another rookie mistake and accidently wins another one.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

How many wins did RC have in his first 250 SX season? 1 (Daytona) in 1999, correct? And he ran the whole series?

Posted by: splatt---------------------

Well it wasn't the slop-fest that Anahiem 1 was but it was a soft track. That being said it was an awesome race CR had some bad luck but put in an amazing run in the main from last to 4th. KW had a good run and passed RC for second and Bubba just flat run away all night. Best of all the rain stayed away for the night. As for building an open stadium in Seattle I'm still trying to figure that one out and I live here.

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

So how hard did rc try in this race? considering he just needed to beat Chad who was last?the 2nd coming is still coming IMO

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Based on his press conference statement: I'm just disgusted, something's wrong, something inside.. I think I'm charging, but apparently I'm not"

Make of it what you will.

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Does anyone know if the race was on tv from noon to 2pm EST today? ESPN2 said 10pm to midnight EST but my listing on Dishnetwork shows Poker Championships. So i went to RacerX and it said noon to 2pm EST. Dont know whats up now.

Comcrust still shows it at 9 central.

IMHO, JBS would be like the 4th coming

Posted by: Barbarian---------------------

I think RC is having a little confidence crisis, now that somebody actually appears to be faster than he is. It's understandable, and he'll get over it.

Posted by: Tiger---------------------

I'm actually watching drag racing...all night long!

Posted by: OldassKDX---------------------

I went with a few of my old roommates and it really looked like the guys in charge make the track pretty darn rideable. Least impressive champion of the night has to go to Tedesco, it was pretty obvious he was out to wrap up the title, he didn't even look like he was trying. Reed looked like a totally different guy from his heat to the semi, his timing just looked much better after he got some more time on the track. My favorite part of the night was watching Ramsey come back after the crash. It really looked like he was having bike power problems. Reed was riding fast, real fast in the main, as was Stewart, but RC surprised me. I cant even remember a time when Windham passed RC indoors late in the race.

Posted by: ellandoh---------------------

quote "but RC surprised me. I cant even remember a time when Windham passed RC indoors late in the race."

somebody keeps telling him to "be careful" . when people tell me to be careful i cant ride at all issed:

i think it stems from everytime my dad use to tell me to stay out of trouble 15 minutes before i would go to jail

Remember what happened the last time RC limped into the outdoors with a "confidnece problem" Bubba is doing better than I thought he would but still not a factor in the championship(this year), I hope he stays up all summer and we get to see them go head to head. And Okie; if Bubba beats RC I will wear a lepracghuan outfit of your choice around the pits and in the COTT at DW with a sign that says Bubba rules and I drool (PS props to NM expatriot Ivan Tedesco for winning another 125W )

Posted by: pace---------------------

From the numerous replays showed, it appears that Windham bumped Stewart, causing him to send Reed into the tough blocks. But it was also clear half way down the start straight that Stewart and Reed were on a rookie collision course. One more lap at the end, and Reedy would have picked off Carmichael. RC just looked plain tired in the last few laps.

The people who 'dis RC or Tedesco for 'cruising' seem to forget that they had to work damned hard in the first half of the season to accumulate the comfortable points lead they've had in the latter half. RC might be operating somewhat in 'low risk' mode, but right now he's just plain being outridden by Reed and Stewart. That doesn't diminish his accomplishment this season at all IMHO. We've seen him do this before.

Assuming all the players stay healthy, it's going to be an interesting outdoors, and one that I believe RC is not going to run away with as he did in 2004.

Posted by: ellandoh---------------------

given reeds starting position he should've expected what he got , thats what i would call a rookie that really , really , really wants a BUTTERFINGER or needs an extra 1500 for vegas in a couple weeks. if he would've settled for a top 5 start and rode like he did he may have pressured bowfinger into a rookie mistake.

did you notice how rc played the exact same hand earlier this season?

Posted by: Barbarian---------------------

At some point you've got to get off your hot streak, slow down for awhile, so you can start going 100% again later. This would be the ideal time for RC to do it. Plus it sets him up as an underdog in the nationals, which is a psychologicaly easier place to be.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

Don't fret too much people. At some point, the laws of physics will step in and Stewart's speed will have to plateau to a ceiling where him and his bike cannot possibly go faster. Kinda like terminal velocity.

Posted by: cr250can---------------------

What about windham? This guy really needed that pass on RC. Things like that help him break through the mental barriers that keep him from going faster.

I hope he pulls out some serious speed for nationals I'd love to see kw win it.

Posted by: XRpredator---------------------

Observations from the stands:more later if I think of it

Posted by: Tiger---------------------

Great day at the races. They should always have 3 heats IMHO.

I TiVo slow mowed the start of that 250 main. Over and over. 2 things appeared clear.

1. CR tried to steal the start from WAY outside. (He qualified via a semi.)
2. The wet conditions packed about 5 riders on the outside of that turn. K-Dub, JBS, CR, etc...
3. RC saw the carnage about to unfold and dove to the extreme inside...almost paid off.

After watching it over and over, it was just a racing thing. Also anyone attempting to holeshot form the outside is a brave man.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Now that was a race I enjoyed watching on ESPN2 - what an awesome track for some exciting racing. I like a track where your top 10 can't nail every triple and finish line double each lap. Plus those sweet ruts made for some interesting bobbles and challenges.

That was sweet seeing K-Dub take the tight inside to pass RC with a lap to go. K-Dub usually loses his agressiveness after lap 5 in SX. Way to go Kevin!!

And Reed was turning out laps like a madman to finish right behind K-Dub and RC. Bubba slowed the last few laps, but I would have loved to see a race between Reedy and Bubba because Reed was on fire. His start crash had to cost him at least 15-20 seconds on lap one?

But again, I can't believe they wouldn't put a retractable roof on a brand new Seattle stadium.... duuuhhhh

Posted by: YamaB---------------------

Awesome race!

I was really surprised that Bubba was able to rip through the entire race at such blazing speeds w/out making any major mistakes... That says a lot considering how knarly that track looked...

AMAZING performance by Reed... I can't believe that he nearly caught Windam and RC after crashing in the first turn like that... He has really stepped up his game in the last few weeks...

Also good to see Windam get the better of RC for a change... He also seems to be stepping up more and more as the season progresses...

As for Stewart's mouth... I like a little trash talking... I get BOOOORED with competitors always trying to be politically correct... I think his riding speaks for itself... Once he matures, no one will be able to touch him...

Posted by: SpectraSVT---------------------

I can't say I understand Bubba's strategy. AT 1 point in the race Reed was down 29 secs to Bubba. But at the end of the race, he was less than 8 secs behind Bubba. What is he doing? In almost every race he's been in, he falls off the pace and allows the other riders to catch up. Bubba's lap times get slower as the race goes on while eveyone gets faster. I can understand backing off a bit when you got a lead but not backing off to the point that you are allowing 20-22 secs being made up on you in 10 laps. Especially on a track like Seattle where 1 mistake can be costly. And he's not running consistent. He pulls off fast laps to start and then each lap gets worse. He doesn't find a smooth pace and sticks with it.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Quote:

Ever watch McGrath race SX? Seems he's got a few SX wins with that plan. It's called building a lead and cruising to the end. He may let them catch up, but not until after the checkers fly. If he blitzed every lap people would just say he doesn't know how to let-up (they've said that in the past) or that his ego wanted the biggest margin of victory possible (they've also said that).

Posted by: YamaB---------------------

I wonder if he doesn't just get tired after blazing such a fast pace for the 1st half of the race... I mean he was out for an extended period of time this year, and might not be in absolutely tip top shape right now...

I race at a MUCH lower level, but I know my lap times decrease as the race goes on as I just get tired, and realize that if I don't slow down a bit, I'm going to make a BIG mistake and eat it pretty good...

Yeah.. we've all been raving about Chad's charge through the pack, but his best lap was almost 2 seconds slower than Bubba's best!

Posted by: JPIVEY---------------------

Yeah, but Reeds laps were consistant lap after lap right to the very end, can't say that about RC or JS

That maybe true but if you look at JBS last laps he really slowwed down. CR was consitantly at 49-50 second laps

Posted by: pace---------------------

Do you really think that Bubba needed to push that pace all the way up until the finish, but was unable to?

Posted by: Micahdawg---------------------

So in the last race when Bubba washed out we heard, "I was all over Ricky, and I could’ve actually hit Ricky but I let him go. I didn’t want to mess up the points and stuff."

Fast forward to this week where when asked about sending Reed off the track and he said something to the effect of, "Yeah, I understand these guys are racing for a championship, but I'm also out to win races."

So in one week, he's giving some consideration to the points race, but this week it's "too bad, so sad, I want to win too."

I like Bubba, but I like Reed more. And it was a tough pill to swallow to see Bubba's reckless holeshots take out the only guy who could have given RC a run at the title. Do I think he purposely took him out.....of course NOT. I also understand that his "reckless" (call it agressive) style separates the winners from the losers. But you might want to tone it down just a hair when you don't even have a shot at the damn title. And if you are physically incapable of toning it down, maybe an apology is in order when you do send a REAL contender off the track.

I like Reed more than Stewart too, but if he really wanted to keep from going over the berm he could have let off the right hand grip as well. It's a contact sport, and frankly I don't think Stewart was any more in the wrong than Windham or Reed. Reed's a tough guy, I doubt you'll hear him crying half as much as the Bubba haters over the contact.
