Glen Helen Rd. 12 Final Season Results - 05 MX Nationals 12-rider team Fantasy League

UPDATED Monday September 12th 2:30 pm:

And we have a champion… Congrats DIRT BIKE DAVE on the huge 310 point victory! His team of Carmichael, Windham, Fonseca, Vuillemin, Byrne (dirt bike dave was the only person to pick Byrne), Reed, Stewart, Alessi, Langston, Hepler, Grant, and Millsaps consisted of riders who all scored 250+ points with the exception to Bubba. Way to pick em!

There were tons of position changes after the crazy results of Glen Helen, and Camstyn took second place honors at the last round after a slow start. BEEF706 kept on the podium and ended up third overall. Pace and Midhigh rounded out the top five.

Top 11 finishers, please post in this thread with your prize choice and mailing address. 1st place gets first choice, 2nd place gets second choice, etc.... and we'll go down the list. If you don't want to post your mailing address, please send it to me through a PM. I will not receive a prize, so as of now, everyone through 11th place (rickyd) will get a prize. Keep checking back and please try to select your prize asap so we can get them sent out.

I like tedesco, ramsey and walker in the 125's but they let me down too many times in the fantasy mx and sx, so now that I didn't choose them they will 1-2-3 all season I am sure

Looks good Sam! And I like your pick of Reed as the champ. If RC's new Suzuki breaks a moto or two, Reed will win this year. Bubba will crash. I think it's a great pick. Plus, like you said, he's on a Yamaha!

My heart is broken for Seb Tortelli. Seb dislocated his left wrist while practicing, and will be out for the majority of the outdoor season. Sebastien has worked so hard to make it thru the supercross season. He put in an unbelievable amount of hours, and his dedication to be ready for the outdoors (knowing it was a developmental year for the RM 450 in supercross) was incredible. His goal was to have everything at 100% for the outdoors. His attitude and work ethic are tremendous, so expect to see him back strong later this year.

Everyone had an equal chance to do research before the season started...

IMO the teams should be fixed. No substitutions.

It's a long season and Hangtown proved everyone is going to be subject to injuries, unfairness, bad luck, etc...

ok then DBD i guess half of the people here can just play with an 11 man team then . im not talking about injured after the start of the season , which it sounds as if langstons hurt i picked him also and thats the breaks . im talking about a guy who isnt in it this year at all. half of the people here know hes out yet noone says anything , i found that tortelli was out for awhile and at least tried to warn my opponents so we can all be on a level playing field to start with. you folks who didnt pick him well why dont you get together and pick a decent rider to handicap for all of us who didnt realize we were picking a non existent rider. seems something more fair than saying tuff $#(*@ could be done

The time to argue about the rules was before the game started. Rules regarding substitutions or reserve riders on a 'bench' were never discussed. Therefore, they are not part of the game.

Rules changes at this point are not only unecessary, but IMO unfair to everyone that followed the rules as written. Change the game after it starts and you open the door for new rules every time something unforseen happens.

the way I see it is we picked for the season and yes I didn't do my homework and picked Hansen also. I doubt Nikki wants to get into the nightmare of scoring that many rotating 12 man teams each week.
Jump into the fantasy game. You would only be one week down and just to show anything is possible Lou came from 3rd to last at midseason and ended up 2nd for the SX season. That way you have a new team each race

The deadline for the season was Saturday noon CST. Everyone's in it for the long haul with their 12 man teams. Who's to say that other riders (like Millsaps, Ferry, Hepler, etc.) won't have a season-ending injury this week or at High Point or next week..... etc. It's just the chance we take.


I may consider letting everyone vote for being able to dump two team members for new ones around Round 6, but we'll see. More than likely we'll stay locked with the teams they way they are now.

jaction125 only picked 10 riders, and has added two more riders to his team today (DV and Brown). As a penalty for picking late/after the season has started, I think it's fair to have him keep the 10 rider only team for the first four rounds, then he can have the 12 rider team for the last eight rounds. If anyone has a problem with this, please post here. This will be the only team addition/change as everyone else picked 12 riders the first time around. Thanks!

For Round 2, my prelim. estimate is my team scored 389 points. My 7 riders in the 250 class went 1 thru 7 overall on the day!

Adding to last weeks total of 364, I've racked up 753 on the season so far.

I looked at the other 2 teams on last week's podium.

My prelim tally shows Nicki with 398 points this week, also increasing her total to 753.

Elf picked up a few points on my team, with 393 points in Round 2, totalling 747 so far for the season.

Nikki, I am not sure I am doing this right, but I think I have 996 points.
two of my team members had 0 points to add.
ferry has been a disappointment.
ramsey has been a disappointment.
stewart is also a disappointment.
Langston is the man to stay in the game without him I would be in trouble.

cr250can - yep, your calculation is right. Ramsey has been the weak rider on my team too. I wouldn't consider Bubba a disappointment because we all picked him, so it really doesn't matter how he finishes.

FWIW, Tim Ferry was running a strong 5th after 15 laps of Moto 2, but he DNF. Not sure what happened, but that was bad news for those with Ferry on their squad.

Milsaps has been underacheivng so far, but it looks like almost everyone has him on their team. Also, its a long season and he could catch fire.

Nikki, hey I was bored at work and I made a spreadsheet that will generate the standings almost instantly. Just put in the riders points and then just sort the last page of the spreadsheet in decending order. I eliminated the rest of the riders that nobody picked. the blank spaces next to some rides means they haven't even raced yet (or ever). I just don't know how to get the file to you. if you want it shoot me an email (canktm89@yahoo.com) or tell me how to post it on this forum.

Reddog = Tim Ferry.

Another tough week for Ferry - 5th in moto 1 then he crashed out early in moto 2. He's shown top 5 speed at several rounds.

I have a spreadsheet that has only the top 6 teams from last week, and all my totals agree with yours.

Looks like Lazyboy had a huge week.

Edited to add - I think Lazyboy's week 3 results that were previously posted were lower than his actual score. I don't have him in my spreadsheet, but I think he was more like 1070 points instead of the 1018 shown in the week 3 results.

Almost everybody has Langston, so it won't hurt you too bad if he goes down.

Ramsey and Ferry are the kind of riders that could finish top 10 every moto from here on out. You could really move up if they both do well.

My fortunes largely depend on Josh Grant. Go, Josh!

Ferry has finished top 10 in Moto 1 at every round, but DNF Moto 2 every single time!

Since he's compressed a season's worth of bad luck into 8 motos, Timmy is likely to score very well the rest of the way.

cr250can - I already have a spreadsheet that does all the work for me, after all, I am an accountant. Thanks for trying to post the round 4, but there were some errors in your totals (missing teams such as prk03, LazyBoy, Combat767) and my totals for a few riders towards the bottom of the order didn't agree, so I deleted your totals to avoid any confusion.

VOTE ON PLAYER SWAP - starting round 7 - Lakewood

Vote on the option to switch one of your current team riders for another rider which will become effective for round 7 - Lakewood. If you would like each team to have the option to trade out one rider for a new one, reply to this thread with a "YES". Vote by July 16th. We have 27 teams, so if we get 14 YES responses, you will be able to switch for one rider. Post any time before round 7 (July 23rd) with who you would like to drop and add.

Switching one member of a team would probably not effect the top 3 teams. if Dirtbikedave made the logical choice and swapped byrne out for brown his team would be at 1895, if nikki swapped out ramsey for say fonseca her team would be 1840, say elf swapped ferry out for fonseca he would have 1840 as well. I didn't try to guess every ones logical choices but I have a feeling that swapping out one player would only mix up the bottom 2/3 of the field. My total would only get to 1776 if I swapped ferry out for brown.

I was just thinking...............

Too bad for Byrne and Bubba that Kawasaki could not manage to put legal fuel into their bikes at Budd's Creek.

After reading Racer X's interview with the AMA's Steve Whitelock, it does not sound like there is any chance the two riders will get their 25 points back.

I don't want to create any extra work for you, but it would be fun to know which riders were picked by 100% of the teams, as well as how many teams picked guys like Brown, Fonseca, Byrne, Tedesco, Alessi, Grant, etc...

Fonseca is more than carrying his weight, though.

Looks like the keys to early season success have been Brown, Fonseca, Tedesco and Grant.

This is my mid season report card on some of the riders. A rider not picked my many but doing real well deserves an 'A' grade. Someone picked by many but not doing well gets a bad grade.


A+ = Mike Brown. Only six players picked him, and he leads the 250f class and is tied with KW for the 2nd most points of any rider.

A = Ivan Tedesco, Ernesto Fonseca. Top 12 in points but not on many rosters.

A- = Michael Byrne, Josh Grant. Risky picks paying off.

B+ = Matt Walker. Could raise his grade substantially with a strong 2nd half.

D = Nate Ramsey. SX success not translating to outdoors.

D- = Tim Ferry. Has had lousy luck all year. Great rider, but a bad pick so far.

F = Hansen. Most popular (11 teams picked him) of the no-shows.

Unpicked riders who would be graded well: Andrew Short, Danny Smith, Travis Preston, John Dowd, Nick Wey. All have over 100 points and went undrafted.

Yeah, I am reborn as cnielse5.
I was begining to wonder why no one was responding to me any more.

As for my (cr250can) fantasy mx team it is not looking good now that ramsey is out for the rest of the year. Now I have lost Ramsey, Ferry, and Hughes. Langston's banged up, stewart has done poorly in the points, and reeds concussion is sounding scary.

I suspect my team will tumble down the standings.

Since every team has Reed, Bubba, RC and KW, any injuries to those riders will not hurt you in the standings. And Langston is on almost every team, too.

Having 3 of your remaining 7 riders out - now that's a killer.

Be sure to pull over when I lap you!

Hughes, who has struggled on a Honda CRF250R, is hoping to make a dent in the top five in the 250 class aboard the yellow thumper. He is also considering a move to the WORCS Series in the near future, having spent almost 15 years on the AMA National, THQ Supercross, and FIM World Motocross circuits
