Lowering Front Forks?

Has anyone lowered the front forks for handling purposes. If so, is it worth it? and how many mm did you lower?

My neighbor had a 1999 Husky 125 wr , and the forks were lowered on it about 5 mm, the way I hear it makes 3 things happen ;1 it shortens the wheelbase, which makes it turn sharper, 2 it makes you "ride" over the bars, which puts more weight on the front for "precision" steering, 3 it makes wheelies a little harder. Now I don't know by my own accord, but they say 5 mm does "a whole lot of good." I'm keeping mine stock.

I assume by lowering the forks, you mean raising them in the tripple clamps. If that is the case, you may raise the forks on the KDX about 10mm or 1/2 inch without the front tire hitting the fender. This is usually done by KDX owners to "lower the bike". It does not materially affect the handling for most riders, but technically does the "things" listed above. Cheers John

I lowered mine until the tops of the forks were just shy of hitting the bars. Handling difference? Maybe a top motocross rider could feel the difference, but doubt us mere mortals could.

I have tried the same thing Bake and I never could tell a difference.
