I'm confused: should I go "slower" or "harder"?

OK, I'm lost...

I'm (trying) to adjust the rear hi-speed shock hydraulics, but I don't know which way to go to prevent it from bottoming (granted an adjusted race sag):

1. Should I go with a slower (or softer, as many would call) movement of oil inside the channels (turning the adjusting nut counterclokwise), OR

2. Should I go with a harder resistance to the oil flow (turning the adjusting nut clokwise)

My guess is number 2... But any help would be hot...

#2 will help prevent bottoming. You might want to turn the low speed adjuster in a bit too.

cheers
