shock shaft damage

i took the shock off of my bike because i thought i needed a different spring but i found i need something a bit more expensive, the shock shaft. it has 3 dings in it from rocks. the dealer wants $375 for another one. is there anything else that i can do. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I would get with your local suspension guy. He should be able to get you fixed up.

ill try that, i was thinking that i might be able have it re-chromed. is that possible with nicks, there not very deep.

where should i have it done if i decide to go that way. would i send the whole shock in or just the shaft.

I would just take the shock to your closest suspension guy, and have him send it to who ever he has to re-chrome. They can check out the rest of your shock at the same time. I would suspect that if there is nicks in the shaft or pealing chrome, that there is a possibility of a damaged seal and shock shaft bushing. That way it will be in tip top shape when you get it back.

thanks for all the help. ill be leaving for vacation soon and want all the parts done by the time i get back, thats what all the rush is for.
