Yamaha TTR 125 - Good or Bad?

I was looking for a nice 125cc bike and in my area I found a nice used 2001 Yamaha TTR 125 for 18 grand.
Disregarding the specific bike I'm getting is that year of the tt 125 good? And oh yeah, this is going to be my first dirtbike.

18 grand????? no bike is worth that much except maybe a brand new factory bike lol

We will go ahead and assume you meant 18 hundred smackers for the bike ... the TTR125 is a great bike for trails type riding for a beginner.

That price seems a little high for an 01 ($1800). There are plenty around for 1300-1500.

The does seem high, but the price can depend on where you are located. I would go for the big wheel version if you can find one. They are the L and LE models. My wife rides an L and loves it. I really do not think the extra weight of the electric start is worth it. They are very easy to kick over. The only thing is if you want to put a light on it, the e start model does not need the stator rewound.
