Want to Harescramble???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

There is a Harescramble on the 31st at Monterey, TN. I have never been but would like to try one. I thought I would see if any DRN'ers wanted to go and show me the ropes(sign-ups, starts and all that)!

http://www.msws.org/ <----This is the website, check the summer series info.

BTW Monterey, TN is about half-way between Nashville and Knoxville.

Any takers? (hate to go alone my first time , but I will if I have to! )

Its too far for me but do go. HS races are awsome.

Still no volunteers? I know its hot but a cold front is coming thru and the high temp for Sunday will only be 90! Wohooooo!

I've never been to that particular race, but I've heard it's a tough hilly race. I have raced several of the Mid-South HS races and most are excellent when moderately dry. The winter series is where the big turnouts are and the racing is cooler. Of course you 'll also see quite a bit of mud. Have fun, but it's too far far me, too.

I'm not sure if I'm going or not yet... I maybe working this weekend. But I have race that race before. If it's your first ever HS you may want to try a different one. Not to say that you couldn't do it but it's always been ugly at that place.... The hills are big...and every race there, seem to be either frozen or wet. If you decide to race you will have good time but there are better races out there for a 1st timer.

If you go, be ready for alot of hills up and down. Also once you hit the hill there will be spots the level off and you think your on top. Your not it will soon be going up again. The second part is where you will find bikes stoped in the middle of the trail (not ready for another hill climb and stalled out).

I've made it sound bad, but if you decide to go you will have a good time. The turn out maybe a little small (which will help if it's your first race). And the races are always ran very well.

Good luck
