Oh well at least Lazyboy is still racing there-Today

Cycle News posted this press release yesterday...

"Team Kawasaki’s James Stewart plans to return to the AMA Motocross Championship series this weekend at Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, Minnesota.

Stewart, who was involved in a crash in the first 250 moto at Unadilla, was evaluated by his personal physician following the race and was not released to compete at the Thunder Valley and Washougal events. After a few weeks of training, and a follow-up evaluation by his physician, Stewart has recently been cleared for competition.

“I’m just glad to be back racing,” said Stewart. “I also appreciate all the support from the fans and Kawasaki.""

I think Bubba should start seeing Ricky's doctor.

You must use Internet Explorer. for their Vids, or there might be another way that I don't know.

It is the only reason EX is still on my computer.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Get the quicktime player plug in.

You don't need Internet Exploder... I watch their vids on a Mac w/ Firefox and/or Safari.

JBS is going to get HURT on a 450

I don't think so. Watch the video, his 2stroke comes on to hard and he looses traction because of the burst of power, On the 4stroke the power is smoother and more tractable. Might not have crashed there on the 4.

Anyways that sucks, was hoping to see a good race between him and RC at milliville. RC, K-dub, and then who? Maybe Dowd will podium at millville.

Posted by: john3_16---------------------

It seems like the 4 stroke smooths aggressive riders out...

Posted by: KX_Ken---------------------

Bummer

I would gladly (with a smile on my face) watch RC spank JBS around some more but I was (wishfully) thinking of maybe seeing a few good laps of racing before hand (I'll be there).

Oh well there's always the 125s (or better stated the 250F) class.

Gnarly looking biff! I bet he hit his head when he was cartwheeling and thats why they made him "sit-out". Some of the "internet experts" that frequent these boards have no idea how dangerous a closed-head injury is or how long they take to get over. I suspect he has been suffering from a head injury since early in the SX season. It has just finally caught-up with him and the doctors have done the right thing.

looks like a pretty bad crash. that sucks i was hoping to see him there and give RC a little bit of competition

Hammer > Nail > Head. Nuff said.

Another angle may be that the cost of modern day, multi-year contracts are so high now that the factories are a little more careful with their investments... the author used Hannah and Ward as examples, even considering inflation, those two probably cost the factory 1/100th of what RC, JBS and probably the entire top 10 cost these days.

Posted by: Vic---------------------

Is it conceivable that we may, one day, no longer have the nats?

Posted by: weimedog---------------------

There is going to be Nationals for a long time.

Its sort of funny to think that RC has won Championships (or is GOING to ) on THREE out of the Five major brands. Just goes to show that any of those three have the ability to win with the right guy. So is RC HELPING or HURTING their cause???

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

I think they sold 5 rms before RC , next year they will sell 7 or even maybe 8 but they will have to discount the last one to help move it, look at honda-they have 2003 250s still sitting to be sold, look at bubba on the 125-the next year they have dropped it from the US, having a top rider doesnt sell bikes.

Posted by: weimedog---------------------

I think a neat ad stratagy is when there is a rider/bike combination that can BEAT RC ...take the approach THIS IS THE BIKE THAT BEAT THE MACHINE!!

I also wonder if it is phyisically possible for RC to run both the 125's and the 250's on the same day and win both. That would be something tough to duplicate over time. Also he might be able to get his 125 win record back.

I sort of hope he takes a couple of years on the down side of his career to school the 125 riders..get them tuned up for the 250 nationals!

Posted by: Anssi---------------------

Everts won the 125, 250 and 500 GPs (when it was one moto each) on one day. I don't think RC would have any physical problems racing (and winning) all four national motos.

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

I think he could do it, and it may give the others a chance, BUT it may make him even fitter and stronger-then it would be real boring.

Also rc should be forced to ride 2 strokes.

did you see the quote from Tyler Evans that he doesnt race outdoors since for all the expense, if he got a top 20, its only good for $300?

i think Jody Wiesel and Brian Deegan have sold more bikes than all of the top factory riders.

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

I think people just want something new/different, like the yz125 sold well, the rmz450 would have if it come out a the start of the season not the end, i dont think price puts people off, the KTM250f is alot more expensive than some 450s but they are selling like hotcakes.

No it wouldn't be possible because unlike SX a rider is not allowed to race both classes outdoors.

Tyler Evans gets paid $15 grand a year just to wear Utopia goggles. I've seen the pay scale for the outdoor nationals. Although I don't remeber exactly how much it was, I recall if you sweep the nationals, you would be on par with what a school teacher earns in a year. They're getting their money from the factories and sponsors.
