dO YOU THINK FUEL INIECTION WILL BE A GOOD DEVICE FOR DIRT BIKES OR CARBURATOR STILL REMAIN THE BEST CHOICE?
I HEARD HONDA THINKS THE CARB WILL REMAIN IN DIRT BIKE AS THE BEST OPTION FOR IT S SIMPLICITY.
ALO I HEARD F.I. IS VERY DELICATE WITH WATER,DUST AND SAND AND FOR HARD OFFROAD USE IT COULD BE IN DANGER.

Honda put a very slick battery-less EFI system on the new Montesa/HRC four-stroke trials bike. I'm sure the lessons learned from this bike will give them some idea how to proceed in the future.

I think eventually it will be here and soon carbs will be thing of the past, but I don't see this as a benefit. i think it will be a keep up with jones syndrom, much like the aluminum frame is. From a marketing standpoint it is wonderful and a mnufacture will bite the bullet and people will start thinking that there trusty carb is useless and all the manufacturers will end up joining the banwagon. To me, from a mechanics standpoint and simplicity a carb is the away to go for a dirtbike.

scratch building a throttle body is a heart beat away from just put a carb on it.
Now figure in the additional electronics.
Now it is a fcr +1, or fcr+2 if you 3d with ignition management.
The data is out there for the design.
OEM execution will require yet another level of R&D when to the lay person, Ti valves has much the same effect as FI.
I am sure the oem will want to be in total control of the aftermarket as far as hot black boxes and the requisite tuning.

You guys should just plan on bikes following the auto industry if for no other reason than the tree huggers (I don't believe that is a good reason myself but not much I can do to change it). Back yard mechanics hated the intro of computers and fuel injection on cars. But in my opinion cars have never run better or been as user friendly as they are now. The power out put and power curves on a similar sized engine are definitely up. I personally look forward to fuel injection.
