Helping out, a little....

My wife had a wonderful idea for us, so we took all of our clothes that we COULDN'T and probably WOULDN'T wear again and bagged them up for the Red Cross. I know it's not much, and probably will receive a little ridicule from the "they shouldn't have stayed" group, but my wife knows a guy who works here in Alabama, but his family lives in Gulf Port (he was saving up to move them here) and lost everything, so good samaritan face on:

Kudos. Seeing so many people lend a hand during this crisis restores my faith in humans.

OT: Do you ever ride with the Huntsville-based NATRA group?

I was actually planning to do the same thing. I'm sure there are plenty out there that need clothes. It's not about whether they got out or not at this point; it's about being a decent person and helping those in need. I commend your efforts.

My neighbor and bro do, I just tag along every now and then, plan on joining when I get my hands on $40 that doesn't get eaten by bills.

I think the outpouring of goodwill (and stuff) will be far bigger than the media will report. Already, in my little podunk town of 20,000, there are several "Katrina Relief" things going on.

I don't really dig Red Cross, because from what I have gleaned they really prefer cash donations, and you aren't sure your donation is going to go where you want it to. Food is a hard thing to send from my neck of the woods, but I know there is a big clothing/blanket/toy drive going on.
