Right now it's just fair. What is going to net me the most HP increase for the least $?

offroad or on?

More HP doesn't always mean faster. Sometimes faster means learning skills or changing suspension/tires/etc...

Not knowing what your limit is for $. I would start by replacing the stock pipe with an after market aluminum pipe. Easiest way to reduce weight and gain horsepower.

i've done the following mods to mine:

remove smog stuff
remove air intake snorkel
jet
foam type air filter
big gun head pipe
supertrapp or bug gun muffler
hi compression piston
mild porting
lower gearing
Kouba lowering link
stiffened and lowered forks

as far as any one mod being real impressive, i'd have to say the jetting was a good improvement but all these other mods, by themselves, didn't make a lot of difference. Add them all together, plus unbolting about 10 pounds worth of un needed junk, did help somewhat. Torque at any speed above idle is amazing, and it will top out at 95+.

I have tried several different combinations of exhaust. For overall use if noise is a concern, the big gun headpipe with the stock muffler is the best. Honestly, once you grind off the weld and remove the snorkel in the stock muffler the bike will run 99% as well on top and have more torque when compared to aftermarket pipes. Years ago a magazine did a test, and to make a long story short the stocker faired quite well. The down side of the stocker is that it is heavy, and the exhaust note is somewhat goofy.

The big gun headpipe works well, the big gun muffler is way too loud. The supertrap disc style I have on now is a good compromise, still a bit loud for residential.

If you are going to go with the stock headpipes, on some of them there are big weld beads protruding into the i.d. up where the pipes plug into the head, this can be smoothed out with a die grinder.

By the way, you can still run premium pump fuel with the Wiseco piston, no race fuel needed.
