hi, i took my cylinder off of my kdx220. The piston had a very alot of carbon, so i am going to buy a wesico piston kit. (the jetting was off so carbon built up). Anyway, the piston has alot of scoring and im not sure what it is from. Strangly the cylinder is still in excellent shape. If you have any ideas please let me know. thanks

Scoring or usual wear? The cylinder is where scoring is a very bad thing. Sounds like wear n tear to me

so this is normal?? the cylinder is in great shape but the piston had got lines through it.

if it is stock get a wiseco right away because of the grenading problem. if it has lines through it, it may be an internal crack waiting to grenade the piston..

If its got alot of hours, some scoring is normal.
Scoring that is on the intake side can result from not warming the bike up enough before you put it under a heavy load.
If its predominantly on the exhaust side, more likely a result of inadequate lubrication or the motor running too hot.
