Hi all, LoriKTM and I are planning on going to Paragon this weekend. Is anybody interested in joining us for a special tour of Paragon single track.

I'm not an alcoholic! They go to meetings.

Yeh, we plan on making this a can't-make-it-to-Dirtweek-so-drown -our-sorrows-at-Paragon type ride.

Posted by: Papakeith---------------------

Sorry, no can do. Have fun though. Yeah, like I have to tell you to do that

Hey, while I've got your attention. did you ever get a chance to edit Dave's crash from our last paragon trip. He's dying to see it full size!

Posted by: dklink2000---------------------

I would love to see vid of that crash! Judging by what happened to that tree it must have been a good one!

i was thinking about going this weekend. what time on saturday will you be starting? the park opens at 9, so i guess you would be going in then.

i have gone wheelin in a jeep there, but never rode dirtbikes there. it seemed all the trails are too tight and rocky for dirtbikes.... unless you stay off the tight trails and run the 2wd roads and go to the play area.

i am very interested in going, but need some more info to convince me that paragon is fun for dirtbikes.

i had this weekend slated for building my own track at my father in laws house thru the woods (12 acres) but i am not in the mood to run a backhoe and bulldozer all weekend - i'd rather go ride

please reply here or email me directly at

njrealtor55, if that is your outlook on Paragon then I wouldn't suggest tagging along with these people. My guess is the tighter and rockier, the better, in their mind.

I don't want to discourage you from going there on your bike 'cause it's a great place. With your tastes you just might want to try to hook up with someone else.

That being said, I wish I was free this weekend. I'd love to get more time and experience on that rugged Paragon single track. Have fun!

Posted by: LoriKTM---------------------

Ah, there's plenty of good singletrack at Paragon. Not all of it has rocks, either.

njrealtor55, your perception of the dirtbike trail may be distorted by your experience in the jeep. The sinlge track is plenty wide enough for the dirt bikes (for the most part ), and the jeep/quad trails look as wide as a highway when you're on a bike. Really.

We're probably going to leave our house Saturday morning, so we wouldn't get to Paragon until noon or so.

Posted by: 4-Stokin'---------------------

If anyone is interested in going but can't make it this weekend, I'll be heading out there from NJ next Sunday the 16th.
So far, looks like 3 of us.
Anyone else?

Posted by: sick 96 250---------------------

if i can get my bike together and get some money in my pocket I might try to get up there this weekend or next. I really need to get some more riding in.

Also, where is the video from our last ride... did anyone count how many times i went down or cussed

As for the rocks up at paragon it isnt to bad unless you hit certain single track, then it gets a little out of hand but there is plenty of other trails to hit which are just as fun

Posted by: njrealtor55---------------------

ok, me and my friend are in. we are coming from central NJ (ewing area). is there a meeting time? we planned on getting there around 9/10AM.

also, would it be wise to bring extra tubes & tools for changing flats?

this is the 1st time i will ride(besides up and down the .5 mile driveway at my father in laws on sunday) in 8 years. not sure what to bring as far as repairs are concerned.

it would suck to go there and get a flat 30min into it.

just let me know time and meeting area and we will be there. I have a black 92 KX250 and my buddy has a red 89 CR250.

i am very much out of date on riding, so that is why i think paragon is tight for dirtbike riding. i am looking forward to riding anywhere at this point.

also, if is raining is everyone still gonna go?

Posted by: Draybob---------------------

Always good to bring extra tubes. It seems someone in the group gets a flat every time I go up there. Since your riding a 2-smoke you will want to be sure to have an extra plug or 2 with you as well.

Have a great time and let us know what you thought after being off a bike for that long.

Posted by: Wintermute---------------------

njrealtor55 don't worry too much about the terrain. Paragon has lots of diversity. You can find good stuff for any level of rider. Lori and I can show you around and you can let us know what your comfort level is.

We'll be leaving from the fingerlakes in NY Saturday morning so we probably won't be on site until between 10 and noon. If you are there before us I highly recommend watching the video so you qualify as a trail boss. Paragon requires at least one person qualified as a trail boss to be with all groups.

Sorry PK I haven't even gotten the footage off the camera yet. It's been a little nuts here for a number of reasons. I'm hoping to download it in the next week or two. Its not much in terms of time so I was going to send a copy to scooter so he could combine it with his footage from that trip.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

I havent even looked at my footage yety either. I will go through it soon and see what I can get together for some video.

Not sure if I will be there this weekend, I was thinking of going to Maine to see my brother since it is supposed to rain here all weekend anyway.

For anybody thinking of going to Paragon next weekend, they are having the funals for Neuroc http://neuroc.com/ There will be a couple trails closed for that. If you are riding, there is no aditional charge the competion.

The way the weather forecast is going, I'm not so sure we're going to be there this weekend.. issed:

I don't mind a chance of showers, but not both days.

...and yes, I am a fair-weather rider.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Hey Dave & Lori,

I'd love to go, but Soccer season has started and Connor has at least 2 games per week (Saturday & Sundays). If that wasn't enough, our youngest has started playing too. Until the last game of the season (November 12/13), they own me.

Hopefully I'll get a few rides in before ski season.

Posted by: LoriKTM---------------------

We're bailing out on Paragon this weekend, becuase we may be "bailing out" out basement instead! Nice and dry all summer, and now the primo riding season is a washout. 3-4 inches of rain, sheesh.

Posted by: njrealtor55---------------------

still gonna try to go. my friend may not want to go if it is pouring, but we'll see. i doubt he will drive up to paragon and then turn around if it is raining... that is a long ride for nothing.

anyone else still going?

Pfth!! If I was going I would have gone!!!

Posted by: DaveRS575---------------------

NJRealtor... You should really try Paragon. It's not nealry as bad as it looks. A KX250 might be a little "hitty" for some of the slower speed areas, but you should be fine.

As for things to bring.. it never hurts to have a spare tube and some spoons, but to be honest, This is now my 3rd season up there (after a 15 year hiatus!) and have ridden up there dozens of times now without so much as a flat. I tend to bring plenty of advil, stitches, and splint material to repair my body rather than my bike. LOL

Honestly though, you should be good to go. There are plenty of people who like to take it easy up there, and I'm sure Lori and friends will not lead you into hell your first ride there.. right guys?

Have fun.. wish I could join ya.. was there last weekend and had a blast!!! (Just reloaded my front forks and the ride is 1000% better!)

I'll be back in November or more likely, Halloween weekend next.

Posted by: njrealtor55---------------------

sounds like no-one is going. since my friend bailed on me (rain), and you need 2 or more to ride at paragon - i guess i am not going either.

i am still trying to convince my friend to go, but i am thinking he won't go.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

ok any ideas on this one...got this e-mail from Paragon today....maybe next time they will ask sooner....

Hi Dan,

I have a group of ATV and Motorbikes coming up this weekend and they want us to set up games for them to do. I have no idea what to do with the Motorbikes. Do you have any suggestions? They can’t be too long in time and they have to be able to be done by younger riders as well.

Thanks,

Stephanie

is it easter already?

They have done scavenger hunts in the park before...but they need time to get them set up. I was thinking a game of dodge the raindrops....whoever comes back the dryest wins

Posted by: sick 96 250---------------------

capture the flag.... one dirtbike rider has a flag and same with an ATV. They have to track down the correct guy with the flag to win. Obviously it wouldnt be the normal paragon flags and there are boundry's to where they can ride.... Just an idea, maybe not a good one but still an idea
