A few DW Pics ... Kenny / Big Lou

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Freestyle may be boring on TV, but when they jump over your head, it's just a little better

First of all, and yeah, it's been said before; but Kenny Batram is one very cool individual. One of the nicest, hospitable, down to earth good guys your likley to meet. Always takes time to hang out at DirtWeek, gives us a show and spends time with the kids. No full-body tats, no nose rings and no language. The saving grace of the "freestyle thing" IMHO.

Seems Lou and Kenny are buds now, he came to the pits looking for Lou and said he could bring a couple frinds over to his pit... I was put on limited photo access as there were some new tricks being practiced, we were sworn to secrecy, no pics and no mention on the site of this particular trick .. I think it's safe to say "INSANE".

Kenny at the Ramp, #1

A backflip from underneath (looking straight up):

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

another backflip.. sorry about the white, it was overcast (he was out there 3 days);

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

At his pit (there's a KTM in there somewhere):

Just after Kenny was dog'n Lou to jump into the pit (secret location, near Cooperland), Thump started on him too. Of course, Thump wasn't in gear so "dude, I'd do it if I had gear and a bike". Moments later, history was made as BigLou did in fact, jump into the pit.

DRN'er "YZ165" getting a lift out of the pit:

Another overhead:

Awesome stuff! Sorry I missed the pit.

Posted by: motometal---------------------

I think the pic of the YZ426 above is the guy that came with YZ165, Brian? Later in the week his bike had numbers on it.

Posted by: Grady---------------------

The pit was awesome, watching Kenny and his friends show us how it is done, then watching Lou do his version, then hanging onto the handlebars to get out was

Good stuff there!

That would be this guy;

Lou went off a ramp?!! I want pictures!!! I'm soooo jealous

Posted by: YZ165---------------------

Hey MotoMetal, stop trying to give my credit away! That was the day that my KX exploded, so I was borowing Brian's bike.

Great shots Okie!

And I too think that Kenny is one of the most down to earth guys around. Super cool of him to let a few goons from out of town just jump right into his pit. Thanks Kenny! YZ165

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Cool set-up; the roof slides over the pit, looks like any other farm building, protects the 150,000 pieces of foam.

Getting a lift out;

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

"Anyone see a white CR?"

Posted by: YZ165---------------------

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

New Top Secret Trick: (no that's not the trick I wasn't allowed to shoot)

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

YZ165, coming-up for air.
Pretty wild seeing the foam just swallow a bike and rider, instant silence when they go in.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Brian (Formally Stan Flemmings) taking some ribbing from 690.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Wow that looks awesome! I'd probably never jump in, but I would've loved to witness it!

Does Kenny actually make it back onto the bike after that "top secret" trick?! That's wild!

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Right after just about launching BigLou into orbit trying to lift him out of the pit....
All you heard was a sucking sound, then a big POP, there goes Lou about 20 feet up, lol.
Yeah, he fell back in. 20 minutes later, Lou was out, with a big ol smile and a great memory.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

A little pre-jump advice...

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Oh yeah, this was the response to people rolling on the ground laughing after Lou's Moon Shot extraction attempt:

Posted by: ChopperDave---------------------

Thats priceless right there!

Posted by: Grady---------------------

The way that Kenny got Lou to sign the release was priceless. Not sure who was laughing harder, us goons or Kenny.

You are the man Lou, a jump I'll never forget

The short version: " Anywhere in the pit is good, outside the pit is BAD!"

Im sooooo jelous, that there is reason to get to DW early. I met Kenny there Last year and he was all you guys said, a fun loving normal kinda guy. Best part is how he opened up his place to you guys, thats as generous as someone can be.

Posted by: Racer77---------------------

Kenny is awsome!

Posted by: YZ165---------------------

Just for the record, Kenny was practicing early in the week for the Dew Action Sports Tour, Pro Freestyle comp. in Florida. Not only did he win that event, he also clinched the series championship.

Great job Kenny!
