buying new bike advice

Hey, I'm a new adult rider and have some questions s to what type of bike to purchase. I'm looking to do more than one thing with this bike. I would like to go out to the desert as well as be able to do some motocross. Again I'm a beginner so not really racing or riding that hard, so looking at an off-road bike. In particular the Kawasaki KLX 125L, but not sure how it would hold up on the motocross track. Any advice appreciated on this bike or others.

If the track has big jumps you will get pounded, because the bike isn't meant for MX. But, if you roll the big jumps you can still enjoy yourself. I had an 02' KDX 200 and rode on easy MX tracks with small jumps and was fine, but when you go to tough tracks with big jumps you will pay the price. I had the suspension done (stiffer springs and Race Tech Gold Valve installed), but it's meant for the Woods, just like the KLX.
