Do you prefer to ride alone or with a group?

I prefer to ride with a group myself. I just got my bike on Tuesday last week and I rode Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I was all alone except for Thursday when a friend from work went but he got a flat and I wrecked my rear fender so the ride only lasted 10 minutes. I wasn't bored by myself, but it is much funner with other riders. Friday I'm hooking up with three riders that I have never met, but I'm looking forward to the comraderie and conversation about bikes. These three guys ride every week so hopefully it will work out and I'll have a group to ride with on Thursdays and/or Fridays.

Riding alone is very dangerous. Breaking down or getting injured w/o no one around to help you out is near suicide.

x2

i can think of 100 more reasons not to ride alone if you want

if you insist on riding alone............do it on well traveled trails when there are others on the trail and dont go CC. for that matter find someone in the pit to tag along with

I think these are the reasons that riding alone is uncomfortable to me. The area that I ride alone at is on the corner of two well traveled streets so worse case scenario I could probably flag someone down.

NO! Worse case scenario you're unconcious and lying there until someone happens to find you. Could take days depending on whether or not people know where to look. And there's a chance that it's too late.

I think you're "flagging someone down" idea is more of a BEST case scenario, man.

Thats it... I'm buying a flare gun!
Well, hopefully I will have plenty of people to ride with and I won't have to ride alone anymore. I really do take it easy when I'm alone, which is another reason it isn't as fun.

Posted by: Green Horn---------------------

Yeah none of us on here have ever crashed when we were "taking it easy." Well...you're old enough to know better, so do what you wish man. Just be careful and remember; "We told ya so."

Uhum... point taken... three times. Thanks.

Riding with someone is more fun, but keep the group small.peig groups gets strung out and you end up ( or you should for the above reasons) wating a lot at stops for people to catch up.

Advice for those with nobody to ride with. If you have kids, give the oldest your cell phone and let them hang out nearby. At least let someone know where you will be, and when to expect you back. That way you can be found if you are late.

My kid rides with me i have a kx 250 and he has a kx 80 he is a good rider never beat me though
so if one of us get hurt the other will get help

As frudaddy suggests, at the very least, let people know where you are going and when to expect you back. Take your cellphone with you. Take it easy...if you are alone, it is not the best time to be riding on the edge. A mini-strobe light is not a bad idea.

I pretty much ride alone whenever I ride, but I always bring my cell phone and tell my wife were I'm riding... I pretty much ride these home made tracks out in the desert, so if something happened she'd be able to find me as she knows were they are... I like riding alone...

i learned my lesson back in may. this is a long story but i want peaple to learn from what happen to me. i was riding alone on some trails near my house. a few minutes into the ride i passed this dirt ball looking guy walking a dog down the railroad tracks. i kept riding down the tracks for about a half mile after i passed him and then turned off on to a rutted up trail that leads up to a big open area that is an abondoned strip mine. after riding around in the open area for about 20 minutes i had enough and wanted to go somewhere else and started heading back down the rutted up trail that leads to the railroad tracks. as i am going down the trail, the guy that i saw walking the dog appears out of nowhere and steps out in front of me. i ended up getting cross rutted and going down dislocating my hip and twisting up my knee really bad. i started screaming in agony! i asked the guy if he could go get me help because there are some houses not to far down the railroad tracks, but he refused, he was clearly high on something. i asked him if he could pick up the bike for me and at least he did that, but my hip was still out of socket and i had a heck of a time getting back on the bike, but i bump started it and ended up riding back back to where my truck was parked . i called my dad and he came down to load my bike up and take me to the hospital. please dont ride alone.

I ride alone mostly, because when I get the time it's last minute and I just take off and go. Wife knows where I ride so if I don't show up she'll send someone out.
I take the phone now, but have been doing it like this for the last 15 years. Most of the riding I do alone is hill Climbing and some trails. Mainly it's just light recreation and a Mental breather.

If I travel to a riding area however I always go with a friend.

I won't ride alone anymore unless it's at my place! I had a VERY close brush with a bad ending and I doubt I would have been found for more than a week. I was uninjured physically but had become dehydrated which caused me to make some stupid mistakes. Example: I turned the fuel off and couldn't figure out why the bike died and wouldn't start and spent I don't know how long kicking it. How'd I end up alive? I sucked the sweat out of my jersey, goggle foam and helmet liner before I passed out under a tree. When I came to it was like a new day to me I had no idea what was going on but I was thirsty so I turned the fuel on and thankfully the bike started first kick and I limped back to my truck. Won't happen again.

Always ride in groups. More fun and if something happens someone will find you.

i usually go racing alone and go play-riding in groups.

Good point! It's always more fun to have someone there laughing at you when you bust big.

I never ride alone. There's just too much that could happen, and I don't want to be laying out there on the ground for hours or longer before someone comes along and finds me. Only time I'll take the bike somewhere by myself is if I'm going to the track, and there are people there.

Or in your case when you launch a bike in to the trees and it vanishes or straight up in a mud puddle.
