Hello, I am a newbie to the site and DirtBike world. I have been looking to by this bike from my Dads Friends son which is a 1995 Honda CR250R. The bike frame and plastic is in excellent shape but the motor is gone due to a bad mixture. The head is cracked and of course the piston gone. Will it be too costly to repair this and if so what am I looking at cost wise and what parts would I need? I can get the bike for $500 as is maybe a few dollars less but I was wondering if this is bad deal.

This will be my first DirtBike. I am 5'7" 135 so I know its alot of bike but I havent found another 4-wheeler that I want yet.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My buddy rides a 95 CR250. I've ridden it on a few occasions and it truly hauls. It doesn't have the smooth power as my 2002 YZ250, nor does it have as much but it is not a beginner bike. It is extremely powerful.
It would be a good buy if you can do the repairs yourself. If not your looking at up to $2000 for a stealer do soak you.

Cracked head! OUch. If you like to tool on bikes its not to bad. Your probably looking at a new cylinder, top end, crank, rod, associated bearings and perhaps a power valve. You should price it all out a service honda. Check out the parts diagrams and look at all the parts that would be affected by this. Then again if you dont want to tool around with it or dont have the means then this will probably end up sitting on the side of your yard and rotting. But as far as the year, make, model and all that its a great bike that is holding its value as good as anything. But totally assembled and running it probably wont be worth more than 1600 to 2200 depending on what kind of salesman you are.
