Most the time, after I get off my bike the over flow tube is dipping and sometimes has fuel running out of it. I know I've seen a discussion on this before. Anyone know what to do to save the precious fuel?

Adjust your float level as documented in your manual.

He is right, but Cheech and Chong comes to mind.......

Mine did the same and I just adjusted the float level and fixed it.

Might need a new needle too. If you have never replaced it, pick one up and replace it while you're in there.

Good idea! May also have to burnish the seat, but I didn't want to go into that much detail because you can really screw up the carb if you don't know what your doing....

Most people want to adjust the float level to stop this...... DON'T do it. Most of the time it is a just a fact that has a much simpler solution. USE THE PETCOCK and put in the off position when you stop the engine and want to rest for awhile or leave the bike parked for the week.

I can count a hundred cases of people over adjusting the float level to the point of messing up jet tuning.

I agree, yet I disagree (do I sound like a politician)? The float shouldn't be randomly adjusted until the leaking stops, but it should be checked to make sure its within spec and adjusted accordingly.

My bike leaked bad when new. I checked the float and found the level was set much too high. I adjusted it properly and now I only leak a tiny bit of fuel when the bike it leaned over further than normal (like if placed on the sidestand in soft dirt so it leans over more than usual).

I disagree, to adjust the float you perform an adjustment to a spec. This is a good thing to check anyway and can't hurt anything. To say just shut off the gas may cover up the problem, but it doesn't fix it.

I bought my bike used. It also leaked gas when the fuel was on. The solution was the float needle was not seating properly--cleaned float needle point and it solved the problem.

I bought my KDX220R used (03), it did the same thing (especially after running for a short period).

I re-set the float and cleaned the carb its OK now.

Annoying isn't it ?

Yup, my last weeping carb was a bad float seat.

I rolled the bike off of the showroom floor, and it has dripped since it was new. Does anyone know if they ship the new bikes according to the region or elevation of the shop they're sold to? Or is it just due to a bad setup from the shop? Hey thanks for all the replies.

I replaced my main a few weeks back. I had the manual out and saw the part about adjusting the float, I figured it was fine before before, why mess with it now? Doh! Yes, I too am a member of the the leaky overflow gang now.

Posted by: Lambkawi---------------------

Rubberside, you said you replaced your main. Main jet? An now your bike is dripping?

Posted by: rubbersidedown---------------------

My main and pilot. I went up one size on each for the colder weather. And moved the clip position, it was still set from factory.

Posted by: Lambkawi---------------------

Rubberside, what is your jetting now? I know it will be different than mine. I am at about 3200 feet.

Posted by: rubbersidedown---------------------

155 on the main 48 pilot.
