04 rm 250 showa shock ----$1186 referance bike bandit.com
04 cr 250 showa shock------$712 referance bike bandit.com
I thought these shocks were exactly the same. The suzuki parts catalog only shows the whole assy. The honda parts catalog shows a breakdown of the whole thing. Can I use the individual showa parts listed in the honda ipc and put them in the rm? Why the price difference for the entire unit?

They are similar but not identical, the price difference would just be how much each manufacturer marks up the parts.

all manner of things could be different.

wernt you the guy with a leaky shock???? you can get most of the parts you need from racetech.

yep thats me, bought a bushing and seal set from r.tech for the seal head, drove the race tech bushing in a found it sits 1mm too high, drove the new race tech bushing bushing out and compared with stock and verified the new one is wrong size. I did happen to have a new spare seal head assembly still in the plastic for my cr, that had a factory bushing already in it and decided to compare with the rm seal head.It seems identical, so I used the thing. Thats what got me looking back and forth in the ipc and wondering why the big price difference for the entire shock and also why the suzuki ipc is so poor. You cant order a seal head from the online fische for the suzuki. Its a $500 assembly with shaft and all.....the cr ipc seems to be the way to go if the parts are comparable.....Suzuki must have some way of ordering individual parts, is the dealers parts catalog better than the online oem parts finders or something?

That online auction place occasionally has shocks. They go for around $150.00,
