00 YZ250 Fork repair advice

Hey guy's new to the site here, and need some advice. I just bought a 00 YZ250 from a buddy of mine, and he is still looking for the manual on it. I noticed the front fork is leaking. So I am planning on trying the clean out the seal method metioned in other post, but will also need to top the oil level off. So I have 2 questions for you.

1: I was going to ask here and/or the dealer for the proper oil type and level? Going stock here so the 2 forks will be the same.

2: I have an owners manual for a 00 YZ426, so can I expect those two shocks to be relatively the same and use that book as a reference for pulling the spring, checking oil level, adding oil, putting it all back together, and be safe to ride again or do I need to wait/order the correct book for this repair?

Any advice/help/warnings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
