Revalve Respring?

This is a total newbie question, as I have only had my kdx 220 for a year. I am just trying to learn everything I can about my bike so I figured you guys would be the experts on this. I have a general idea what to respring is (setting the spring and shock to your proper weight and riding conditions) But what is revalving? I am going to be upgrading my bike soon and have not even given the suspension a thought since I don't really know much about it. Thanks for any help given!
